Fargo Concert Announcement
Monday, March 25, 2024/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ - SCHEELS arena and The Essentia Health Fargo Marathon are proud to announce that JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS will be performing live at SCHEELS arena on Saturday, June 1. Tickets go on sale Thursday, March 28 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.com or the SCHEELS arena box office.
Dubbed "America's Best Small-Town Race," the Fargo Marathon is an annual week-long event, attracting thousands of participants from across the United States to North Dakota. Seven total events, from the full and half marathon to a 5k, Furgo Dog Run and Cyclothon will be held from May 28 through June 1, 2024. The concert caps off a week-long celebration commemorating the 20th anniversary of The Fargo Marathon. The concert is also a tribute to the late Mark Knutson, the former race director of the marathon who tragically passed away in July of 2023.
JOAN JETT grew up during a time when rock 'n' roll was off limits to girls and women, but as a teenager, she promptly blew the door to the boys' club right off its hinges. After forming her band, the BLACKHEARTS in 1979, with whom Jett has become a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, she has had eight platinum and gold albums and nine Top 40 singles, including the classics "Bad Reputation," "I Love Rock 'N' Roll," "I Hate Myself For Loving You," and "Crimson and Clover."
JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS continue to tour the world with headlining shows and alongside fellow rock legends like The Who, Green Day, Heart, Foo Fighters and Alanis Morrissette (Summer 2024). 'Bad Reputation,' a documentary about Jett's life, premiered to critical acclaim at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. Following up on the band's 2022 release Changeup, its first-ever acoustic album, JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS' EP Mindsets was released as a Record Store Day First vinyl piece on November 24, 2023. Mindsets is available to stream now.

By Mark Knopfler
Mark Knopfler's new special recording of his anthemic 'Going Home (Theme From Local Hero)', produced by his longtime collaborator Guy Fletcher (who has edited the contributions into a 9 minute piece), features an unprecedented line-up of some of the greatest guitarists in history. 'Legendary' does not begin to cover it - David Gilmour to Ronnie Wood, Slash to Eric Clapton, Sting to Joan Armatrading, Bruce Springsteen to Pete Townshend, Nile Rodgers to JOAN JETT, Brian May to Tony Iommi, Joe Walsh, Sam Fender and many more jaw dropping names. And, in a great honour, the track opens with Jeff Beck's final recording.
Roger Daltrey, Teenage Cancer Trust's Honorary Patron and co-founder of Teen Cancer America (with Pete Townshend), added harmonica, and Beatles icon Ringo Starr is on drums along with his son Zak Starkey, their two drum tracks switching from one to the other, revealing an unmistakable family style. Sting completes an extraordinary rhythm section on bass. With artwork designed by Sir Peter Blake (The Beatles, The Who, Band Aid, Paul Weller etc), this release is a landmark in rock music history.
Full list of contributors: Joan Armatrading, Jeff Beck, Richard Bennett, Joe Bonamassa, Joe Brown, James Burton, Jonathan Cain, Paul Carrack, Eric Clapton, Ry Cooder, Jim Cox, Steve Cropper, Sheryl Crow, Danny Cummings, Roger Daltrey, Duane Eddy, Sam Fender, Guy Fletcher, Peter Frampton, Audley Freed, Vince Gill, David Gilmour, Buddy Guy, Keiji Haino, Tony Iommi, JOAN JETT, John Jorgenson, Mark Knopfler, Sonny Landreth, Albert Lee, Greg Leisz, Alex Lifeson, Steve Lukather, Phil Manzanera, Dave Mason, Hank Marvin, Brian May, Robbie McIntosh, John McLaughlin, Tom Morello, Rick Nielsen, Orianthi, Brad Paisley, Nile Rodgers, Mike Rutherford, Joe Satriani, John Sebastian, Connor Selby, Slash, Bruce Springsteen, Ringo Starr and Zak Starkey, Sting, Andy Taylor, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, Ian Thomas, Pete Townshend, Keith Urban, Steve Vai, Waddy Wachtel, Joe Louis Walker, Joe Walsh, Ronnie Wood, Glenn Worf, Zucchero. Guitar Heroes: How Mark Knopfler assembled the world's biggest supergroup for a charity single from: au.news.yahoo.com
By Roisin O'Connor
When Mark Knopfler announced an all-star cover of "Going Home (Theme From Local Hero)" - his theme from the 1983 Scottish comedy-drama - many questioned the logistics of pulling off a song with such a venerable ensemble.
Would JOAN JETT really work on the same track as Nile Rodgers? Could David Gilmour fit into the same song as Brian May?
The answer is, simply, yes. This is not USA for Africa's chaotic 1985 studio recording of "We Are the World", where a blank-faced Bob Dylan seemed to question his life choices while surrounded by preening rock stars. Nor is it a live performance where a dozen creative egos fight for space on the same stage.
Knopfler's supergroup, named Guitar Heroes, comprises 54 musicians who joined forces to play on "Mark Knopfler's Going Home: Theme Of The Local Hero", proceeds from which will raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Among the stars who contributed to the instrumental track are Slash, David Gilmour, Joan Armatrading, Sheryl Crow, Ronnie Wood, Joe Bonamassa, and even the late Jeff Beck.
The special recording also includes The Who frontman Roger Daltrey, honorary patron of the Teenage Cancer Trust, on harmonica, The Police singer Sting on bass, and The Beatles' Ringo Starr on drums. [more] Keith Richards And JOAN JETT Appear On Lou Reed Tribute Album from: wmgk.com

Keith Richards and JOAN JETT are among an impressive lineup of artists who have recorded a tribute album honoring the songs of Lou Reed. The Power Of The Heart: A Tribute To Lou Reed features Richards covering the Velvet Underground classic "I'm Waiting For The Man." Listen to how great it is:
JOAN JETT covers a Reed track from his breakthrough album Transformer, with "I'm So Free." What an excellent choice for her to perform! Rickie Lee Jones does her interpretation of "Walk On the Wild Side" (another perfect pairing). Rufus Wainwright gives another Transformer track, "Perfect Day" a shot. The Afghan Whigs have covered Reed's minor hit, "I Love You, Suzanne." Singer/songwriter Roseanne Cash chose a deep track from Lou's 90s output, with "Magician."
Seeing such a diverse group of artists covering Reed's songs speaks to the influence he had. Whether it was with The Velvet Underground, or his solo work, Lou Reed's music was honest, and spoke to so many people.
The album will be available digitally starting from 4/19, with a Record Store Day release to follow the next day. The Record Store vinyl release looks nice, pressed on "silver nugget" vinyl, and tucked in a silver laminated jacket and booklet. The CD/digital release will contain a bonus track, the title track of the compilation, performed by Brogan Bentley.
