BAY CITY, MI - While it may not look like it outside, summertime will eventually be here in Bay City - and that means concerts galore along the waterfront.
On Wednesday, March 8, officials announced the 2023 Rockin' the River concert lineup. Rockin' the River is a series of concerts that are scheduled throughout the summer in Bay City. Eight bands were announced but plans are still in the works for an additional ninth act.
"We are going to be doing nine concerts this summer, last year we did three," said Michael Baccigalupo of the State Theatre.
All of the Rockin' the River concerts will be held at the new Wenonah Park bandshell along the Saginaw River in downtown Bay City.
This year's lineup includes popular bands such as 38 Special, Styx and JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS.
The venue has been popular with performers in the past. Todd Michael Hall of heavy metal band Riot V, one of the bands that are coming to play in Bay City this summer, reflected on this during the announcement. Hall was born in Saginaw and is the lead singer for Riot V.

Rebel Girls has raised $8m in Series A round funding with Penguin Random House and rock icon JOAN JETT among the investors. The edutainment company said the money would help it grow its audience and scale its content across publishing, audio and entertainment.
Lead investor PRH has been joined by tech non-profit a Common Sense Growth and trailblazing rocker Jett and her company Blackheart. Also investing are: businesswomen Asma Ishaq, Jenny Zhu and Jocelyn Mangan; philanthropist Melissa Kushner; and executive Stephanie Sperber.
Paul Kelly, co-c.e.o. of DK, recently announced as the brand's exclusive global sales and distribution partner for its English-language titles, will join the Rebel Girls board of directors on behalf of PRH.
Kelly said: "We are delighted to be able to support Jes [Wolfe, Rebel Girls chairwoman and c.e.o] and her team with their mission of inspiring and educating girls across the world. This is an exciting time for the company as they increase their investment in books and content that will tell more stories and reach broader audiences."
Over the next year, the brand is expected to more than double its publishing titles, create original audio series, and develop content across television and digital channels. OCOEE, Fla. - If you're looking to dance and sing the weekend away, the Ocoee Music Festival is the place to be.
The Ocoee Music Festival is making its way back to Central Florida, bringing all the great sounds of rock and country right at your doorstep. The festival will take place over the course of two days from Friday, March 10, to Saturday, March 11, at Bill Breeze Park, 125 N Lakeshore Drive.
The Ocoee Music Festival, originally called the Ocoee Founders' Day Festival, will have free admission for all attendees. Preferred seating for the festival is sold out.
This year's entertainment features a lineup of rock stars such as JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS and Night Ranger, along with country stars Chris Janson and Walker Montgomery.
The artists performing on Friday, March 10 at 5 p.m. are The Mavericks, Rocktown, Night Ranger and JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS.
Performances on Saturday, March 11, will begin at 4 p.m. and showcase Chris Janson, Walter Montgomery, Niko Moon, Chapel Hart and Mark Houghton.
The festival will feature activities such as a fishing tournament, a 5K run, music entertainment, a marketplace including local businesses and food and drinks from local food vendors.
