By ROLLING STONE
She can't stop, she won't stop - from Hannah Montana to Bangerz to "Flowers"
Miley Cyrus has lived a hundred musical lives since she burst onto the scene at 13 years old as the titular star of Hannah Montana. Born into a country-music dynasty (her dad is, of course, Billy Ray Cyrus and her godmother is Dolly Parton), the budding teen idol fused her Southern upbringing with the Disney pop needed to make the fictional Montana successful. But it takes a true star to shine brighter than her alter ego, and Cyrus met the challenge with ease, transitioning quickly into a pop force in her own right.
Since 2007's Meet Miley Cyrus, she has been in a constant state of musical evolution. Her journey has brought her to Eighties pop, metal pastiche, trap music, psychedelic art rock, and even back to country. But within all her eras, she can't (and won't) stop just being Miley.
Ahead of her eighth album, Endless Summer Vacation (out March 10), we compiled the top-50 Miley Cyrus songs. This includes material she recorded as fictional characters, as well as officially released covers she couldn't help but make her own.

'Bad Karma' feat. JOAN JETT 2020
This duet with JOAN JETT is like the single diamond stud earring of Cyrus' all-too-brief mullet era. Not necessary, but it certainly completes the look. “Bad Karma†easily could have been a bonus track from Jett's 1988 album, Up Your Alley. The song bridges the generational divide between Jett fans who don't “get†Miley and Miley fans who grew up loving Jett's work on Shrek. The coolest thing you learn as they trade verses? Basically the only differences between their voices is the way they pronounce “heartbreaker.†Everything else is rock & roll. -S.G. Def Leppard & Motley Crue Win Pollstar's 'Rock Tour Of The Year' Award from: udiscovermusic.com

Also at the ceremony, the Eagles took home the Pollstar Milestone Award and Dave Grohl honored his manager.
Motley Crue and Def Leppard's joint 2022 "Stadium Tour" won 'Rock Tour of the Year' at the 2023 Pollstar Awards this week (Feb. 22). Also at the ceremony, the Eagles took home the Pollstar Milestone Award and Dave Grohl honored his manager.
The annual Pollstar Awards, organized by the live music trade publication Pollstar, have recognized and celebrated the live entertainment businesses' most innovative artists, venues, tours, companies and executives over the last 34 years.
"The World Tour," another joint tour from Crue and Leppard, is now traversing the globe with Motley Crue's replacement guitarist John 5 in for a retired Mick Mars. It continues through Europe this summer.
Part from scooping 'Rock Tour Of The Year', 'The Stadium Tour' won at Pollstar in more ways than one â€" JOAN JETT received Support/Special Guest Act of the Year for her support on the tour alongside fellow opening acts Poison and Classless Act.
Rock and Roll Hall of Famers the Eagles received the Milestone Award in recognition of more than 50 years as a band. Accepting it the Eagles' Don Henley said, "I just want to say how grateful I am for the fact that we've been able to do this for over 50 years now."
Grohl was at Pollstar to give the Personal Manager of the Year award to his longtime manager, John Silva of Silva Artist Management. During the show, Grohl came to the stage calling it "the one f_king awards ceremony that's actually fun," according to a press release.
The Foo Fighter added, "I'm here to honor a person that I've known for 33 years, the only manager I've ever had, Mr. John Silva...We've had some incredible triumphs, and some devastating crises, but the one thing that has kept us together over the years has been love." [more] The 100 Best Songs of 1983, the Year Pop Went Crazy from: rollingstone.com
By ROB SHEFFIELD
The musical world of 2023 was born here - featuring Run-DMC, Prince, Madonna, and many more.
IT WAS THE year pop went crazy. 1983 shook up all of the old rules about how music worked. Suddenly, anything could happen. All the music that matters in 2023 - it kicks off somewhere here in 1983. So many timeless classics. So much wild innovation, all around the margins. Every genre is booming. The old stylistic boundaries don't hold anyone back anymore. It's the year of the pop revolution.
So let's break it down - the 100 best songs of 1983, 40 years later. One of the most amazing, most innovative, most insanely packed music years ever. Prince took over once and for all. Michael Jackson dropped the pop blockbuster of all time. Madonna stepped into the spotlight. Lionel Richie learned to dance. Hell, Rodney Dangerfield made a rap record.
MTV transforms the way fans devour music. So do the Walkman and the boombox, putting young fans in command. Rock, rap, disco, New Romantic synth-pop, metal, electro-funk - they all start sharing bodily fluids all over the radio. It's the most glorious year ever for one-hit wonders, especially the really shameless ones. Kajagoogoo? Men Without Hats? Dexy's Midnight Runners? There's loads more where those come from.
Run-DMC take rap from the discos to the streets, kicking off the golden age of hip-hop. R.E.M., Husker Du, the Replacements, and Sonic Youth revitalize underground rock. Kenny Rogers dances with Dolly Parton. Echo dances with the Bunnymen. ZZ Top became MTV studs, without shaving their beards, changing their clothes, or even taking a bath. Old-school legends like Stevie Nicks, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, the Isley Brothers, that Bowie guy - they all figure out how to reinvent themselves.
Some of these songs are eternal classics: "1999," "Karma Chameleon," "Beat It," "Total Eclipse of the Heart." Others are forgotten gems worth digging up. Some are acclaimed works of art that changed history. Others are underground sensations that went on to be influential later. But the only thing these songs have in common? They all sound amazing in 2023. As the Human League would say, keep feeling fascination.
85 JOAN JETT
'The French Song' JOAN JETT deserves credit for so many innovations, but "The French Song" is one of her boldest moves: an explicit garage-metal ode to a threesome. After fighting her way to the top with "I Love Rock & Roll," Joan refused to tone it down for the mainstream. Her next album, brilliantly titled Album, has "The French Song," where she rips through the chorus in her hilariously abrasive all-American sneer: "J'aime faire I'amour sur tout a trois!" In case you don't parlez-vous her francais, she spells it out for you: "I have to laugh out loud, when you say three's a crowd." It was the "voulez vous couchez avec moi" of its time, yet it ruled MTV all summer. Proof that St. Joan really doesn't give a damn about her mauvaise reputation. Eat your heart out, Serge Gainsbourg. Good luck from 103.3 The Eagle! Ozzy, Paul Stanley, JOAN JETT Poke Fun at Term 'Rock Stars' in Super Bowl Ad from: bestclassicbands.com
By Best Classic Bands Staff
Ozzy Osbourne, JOAN JETT and Paul Stanley lead a group of classic rock icons in a new ad timed for Super Bowl LVII admonishing the corporate world for co-opting the phrase "rock star," noting it should be used sparingly, and only for those who have rightfully earned it through years of decadent, defiant behavior.
From the Feb. 6, 2023, announcement from technology company Workday: Workday is known for creating "rock stars" in the workplace, including more than half of the Fortune 500 companies, and a customer community of more than 60 million workers around the world. Workday has brazenly celebrated its finance and HR "rock star" customers via advertisements and social media campaigns. Following this outrageous display, several real icons felt their voices could no longer remain silent.
"Back in the day, we were wreaking havoc in every town, not managing processes through 'real time reporting and analytics,'" said Osbourne. "In fact, I don't even know what that means. Real rock stars don't 'circle back,' or 'take it offline,' and we sure don't send 'friendly reminders.' Really mate, I'm happy Workday makes your job easier, and I bet your boss even likes you more. I've got to say, the thought of making a boss happy really annoys me..."
Stanley, legendary frontman of Kiss, opens the new commercial pointing out the ongoing offense and reminding rock fans, "9 to 5? Sure! 9pm to 5am! I love my office because I share it with 50,000 fans and the only suit I wear has studs all over it. Now 'Who's a rock star?'"
Billy Idol said members of the rock and roll community were disheartened by the flagrant proliferation of the term "rock star" in emails, pings, and meetings.
The "Rock Star" commercial reminds viewers what true rock star antics look like, with Gary Clark Jr. demonstrating the commitment required to shred a guitar lick, Jett reminding viewers she's been touring since she was 16, Idol recounting the determination required to trash hotel rooms in 43 countries, and Osbourne recalling the complete lack of business synergy that led him to do his fair share of "bad things."
