A feature-length documentary on the launch of Z100 in New York will feature in a special Movie Night at Radiodays Europe.
Z100 - Worst to First - will show for the first time on Sunday 15th May at MalmoMassan, Malmo, Sweden ahead of the annual conference.
The screening will take place with some special guests joining for a Q&A at the end of the film.
In 1983, Z100 launched from the swamps of New Jersey, where no artist would venture, and the DJs had to buy their own records just to have music to play on air.
Fun, poignant and aspirational, the film features Scott Shannon and several other Hall of Fame radio personalities as well as industry legends like Clive Davis and Elvis Duran.
Iconic artists who got their start on Z100 such as Jon Bon Jovi, JOAN JETT, Nile Rodgers, and era superstars, Debbie Gibson and Taylor Dayne all share their personal stories of the importance of the station, their love of radio and passion for performing music.
Capturing the times, personalities and music of the era, WORST TO FIRST portrays the ultimate David and Goliath story that built the foundation for the world’s biggest radio station and the people behind the legacy that endures and continues to grow, reaching eight-digit audiences daily, and continuing to influence the face of media and entertainment.
RadioToday is proud to be Media Partner for the event and will be reporting from the event in Sweden from May 15th to 17th 2022. JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS coming to Augusta from: wjbf.com By CSRA NEWS

Captivating rock star JOAN JETT thinks about her legacy, but not in the way many others might. Hers is a nuanced perspective in which she hopes her name can help carry on her music and the important songs and messages she's been a part of. Yet, at the same time, Jett works to consciously sever herself from the potentially egotistical sensibility that somehow the musical sun could ever rise and fall at her behest.
In truth, Jett is, of course, a legend. She's rebellion personified, which is and was no easy task to achieve. But to let in the various permutations of what that word-legend-means it can cloud or blind one to what's important. Namely, maintaining a personal openness to the world and to others. Instead of living starry-eyed, Jett wants to live a philosophically-minded life, to be one of those people who leans into encouragement and not dismissal. She wants to tell others: Go for it!
"It's surreal," Jett says. "I use that word a lot. Because I want to remember that I am not this person. It's not me. You've got to be really careful-the me, me, me aspect of it. The 'I'm great, I did all this.' I always try to go back to, 'No, I am just the vessel and where this comes from, I don't really know.'"
Jett's home is on the beach. One wall of her living room shows the ocean. Her two cats, Felicia and Cleopatra, lay about. Felicia was a rescue. There are plants and the walls are colorful. Jett is not a white wall kind of person. She likes variety, things to investigate. She wants her mind occupied so that it does not veer into phony territories. How to step away and "just be the witness." It's a philosophical exercise as much as lifting weights is a physical one. Being who she is, Jett's life has been one of great attention. From starring in the all-girl group The RUNAWAYS as a teenager to fronting her band The BLACKHEARTS and rising up the rock charts while wearing studded leather jackets. But for Jett, it all began with an electric guitar and an incorrect-yet-know-it-all teacher.
"I got such a reaction," Jett says, "when I wanted to learn how to play electric guitar."
Early on in her playing days, recalls Jett (born Joan Marie Larkin), she approached a teacher and said to him that she wanted to learn the instrument. To her surprise, he was flustered and blurted, "Oh, no! Girls don't play electric guitar!"
"He was so taken aback," Jett says, "that I was like, 'Oh my God, what have I hit on here?'"
At that moment, Jett was stunned. In her head, she knew she was just a person-a girl, yes-who simply wanted to learn to play the electric guitar. But the flabbergast, the idea that "girls don't do that," drove her immediately and clearly toward something new. [more] STADIUM TOUR 2022 - IT'S HAPPENING! from: YouTube.com By Motley.com

Kasey Tyndall, the Country rocker has a new single out.
Country rocker Kasey Tyndall has unleashed her new single 'Jesus & JOAN JETT'.
Produced by Derek Wells, the song was written by Tyndall alongside Greylan James and Evan Coffman. The music video for the song has also been released and it's available to watch at the top of this article.
"I always ask myself two questions when faced with problems in life. Number one and most importantly: what would Jesus do, and second, what would JOAN JETT do? Add that up and I get my solution. That's where the song came from," shares Tyndall. "Ever since I started playing it live, my fans have been singing every word. I'm so glad I can finally give it to them. JOAN JETT has always been a hero of mine and I'm so glad I get to pay tribute to her and all that she has done for music."
'Jesus & JOAN JETT' marks the first offering from Tyndall in 2022. In 2021, Tyndall released the poignant track 'Middle Man'.
Tyndall will join Drake White on The OPTIMYSTIC Tour, kicking off its 20-stop run on 1st April in Portland, Maine. The Greenville, N.C. native has spent the last calendar year touring with Jamey Johnson, Whiskey Myers, and Sister Hazel. 35 Years Ago: 'Light of Day' Puts JOAN JETT on the Movie Map from: ultimateclassicrock.com By Annie Zaleski
On paper, the movie Light of Day seemed like a surefire hit.
Released in theaters on Feb. 6, 1987, the film featured strong starring performances from Michael J. Fox and rocker JOAN JETT, plus dynamic support from Michael McKean and Gena Rowlands.
At the time, Fox wasn't just starring on the popular sitcom Family Ties. He was a teen heartthrob coming off back-to-back movie hits with 1985's Back to the Future and 1987's Teen Wolf. Jett, meanwhile, was also on an upswing. Among other things, she was fresh off 1986's Good Music, which featured her cover of the Modern Lovers' "Roadrunner."
The film's theme, "Light of Day," was also appealing. Written by then-red-hot Bruce Springsteen and sung in the movie by Jett and Fox, the song was a bar-band rave-up with teeth.
Light of Day stars Fox and Jett as siblings Joe and Patti Rasnick, who perform together in a Cleveland rock band, the Barbusters. Patti is juggling burgeoning musical stardom with being a single mom to a five-year-old son, Benji, and a tense relationship with her religious mother (Rowlands). The balance is rough to come by: On a particularly tough regional tour, Patti shoplifts steaks by smuggling them out of the store via Benji, which angers Joe. At another point, she and her mom clash angrily over her parenting style.
Writer and director Paul Schrader based the script on a real Cleveland band, the Generators. As he said in a 1986 press conference held in the city, the idea for the movie dated back to 1980, when he called up WMMS DJ Kid Leo and "asked him if he could set me up with a bar band in Cleveland that did original material that was good, but whose chances of breaking out were not that strong."
"He said that the best group working at that time was the Generators, so I came here and hung around with them for a period of week. It was from that experience that the script was first written." [more]
