Miley Cyrus' new rock-influenced album Plastic Hearts is finally here, with the pop star recruiting musical royalty in the form of Billy Idol, Stevie Nicks, and Miley's hero JOAN JETT to guest on the record.

Joan appears on the track Bad Karma, while Billy stars on Night Crawling, and Stevie Nicks guests on the already-released Edge Of Midnight (Midnight Sky Remix). And, as well as these very special guests, the Plastic Hearts artwork was photographed by rock'n'roll snapper Mick Rock Ð who has worked with Joan in the past, as well as the likes of David Bowie, Lou Reed and Iggy Pop. Big stuff.

In 2015, Miley gave the induction speech for JOAN JETT into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, describing the honour as "overwhelming". "She's had a career that's decades long," said the pop star (via Paper). "She's been the first to do many things and not just as a woman, but just as a badass babe on the planet."

Miley revealed to Joan that "there isn't one other person on this planet that's been an inspiration to me like you have".

"Joan's music, her activism, who she is. In all of our lives, all of us will experience people who try to tell us who to be and what to be. Fuck those people!" she continued. "Instead of changing for other people, if you don't like how the world is, change it yourself. She made the world evolve, her life and her success is proof that we can self-evolve. I want to thank you for fighting for our freedom, Joan, and I love you so much."

From Debbie Harry to Patti Smith: The 7 women in punk that changed music forever
from: faroutmagazine.co.uk

Across the years, punk music has seen multiple bands and sub-genres develop alongside the emergence of unique fashion trends and, most importantly, an entirely new mentality. This, partly, is due to the great number of female superstars who have revolutionised the genre over the years.

We thought we'd look back at some of those iconic women because, after all, you can never get enough of these timeless goddesses of punk who have helped shape today's musical landscape.

Before we get stuck in to our list of remarkable punk women, it's important to remember that one of the rare achievements linked to punk music is undoubtedly the beginning of equality between male and female performers.

Even after many girl bands such as The Ronettes and The Shangri-Las made themselves known in the sixties, rock music was still a man's territory, and rare were the women who surpassed the wrongful perception of their gender at the time, and more importantly, gained the recognition they deserved.

Having said that, it was only a matter of time before determined and independent-minded female artists took over, rocking the boat of gender inequalities for good. Punk was just the rocket fuel they neededÑa no holds barred movement that encouraged rebellion wherever it could.

Beyond their oh-so-daring outfits and provocative make-up, women have contributed to some of music's most notable phases such as punk rock, the new wave and even hip-hop. Whether they were punk fashion designers like Vivienne Westwood, or great performers like Debbie Harry and Patti Smith, it's almost as though women and punk music were born to be together.

We've chosen seven women who have not only left an indelible mark in the genre but influenced many artists today, and in turn, changed the face of music as we know it. In a time where the number of countries on lockdown is growing by the day, let your mind drift back to punk's no man's land.

7 women in punk who changed music's history:

Debbie Harry
First up, it's Deborah Harry. The famous Blondie lead-singer from New York may well be known for her signature two-toned bleached blonde hair, but most of all for her unique high-pitched voice and innovative musical style. Harry's career started in the late sixties when she was part of various bands including the Stilettoes. That's when she met Chris Stein, with whom she started a band called Angel and the Snake, before Blondie was created in the late seventies. Having written and co-written most of the band's songs, Harry appeared to be somewhat ahead of punk's time.

Blondie's sound brought new influences to the New Wave movementÑfrom reggae and hip-hop to the avant-garde. While their track 'Rapture' influenced some of the earliest rap songs and introduced this growing genre to a rock audience, 'The Tide is High' showcased some serious reggae vibes. Following the band's sixth studio album The Hunter in 1982, Harry started her solo career and also made a debut in the film industry with different acting roles. Her five solo albums were critically acclaimed yet she's still nicknamed Blondie everywhere she goes.

Putting the musical aspect aside, Harry revolutionised punk's fashion with her signature hairstyle, outfits and personality. Being a close friend to the late pop-art king Andy Warhol, he used her photogenic skills and appearance as one of his muses. Deborah Harry is one of punk's queens, and she has influenced a number of female-fronted bands such as No Doubt, The Cardigans and Garbage, but also male groups like Blur and Smashing Pumpkins. We've lost count of the number of covers of 'One Way or Another' and even 'Call Me' we've heard over the years. The tracks are timeless classics, and the same can be said for Harry herself.

Born in Pennsylvania, JOAN JETT, 62, formed her first band, the RUNAWAYS, in 1975. After teaming up with producer KENNY LAGUNA, she became the frontwoman of the BLACKHEARTS and in 1982 had a huge hit with I Love Rock'nRoll. Her track Fresh Start appears on the compilation album Good Night Songs For Rebel Girls, which is out next week. She lives in New York state.

When were you happiest?
My teenage years in the RUNAWAYS: I was still naive enough to think good things about the world and life and people, and I was having fun playing rock'n'roll around the world, living the dream.

Which living person do you most admire, and why?
My buddy KENNY LAGUNA. He's a person of extraordinary character, he's intelligent, and a very good friend.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
Impatience.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?
Arrogance and dismissiveness.

Miley Cyrus hypes new track list, teases JOAN JETT, Billy Idol duets
from: nypost.com

low resolution image Not Enlargeable Miley Cyrus is a tease.

With just two weeks until she releases her new album "Plastic Hearts" on Nov. 27, Cyrus is giving her fans palpitations by releasing the track list for her much-anticipated LP.

In her Instagram post, the "Midnight Sky" singer revealed that she will be collaborating with two rock legends - JOAN JETT and Billy Idol - on her latest.

Jett, 62 - who Cyrus semi-channeled on a live version of Blondie's "Heart of Glass" in September - will rock and roll with the 27-year-old pop star on "Bad Karma." Meanwhile, Idol, 64, will bust out his rebel yell on "Night Crawling."

And "Plastic Hearts" will feature another all-star guest, this one from Cyrus' own generation: "Don't Start Now" diva Dua Lipa appears on the track "Prisoner."

This news continues the collaboration roll Cyrus has been on lately: Just one week ago, Cyrus released her "Edge of Midnight" remix with Stevie Nicks that mashes up "Midnight Sky" with the Fleetwood Mac queen's solo hit "Edge of Seventeen."

And in October, Cyrus released a holiday track, "Christmas Is," with her godmother Dolly Parton.

But for Smilers - as Cyrus' faithful fans are called - Christmas is coming early this year, when "Plastic Hearts" drops on Black Friday.

Miley Cyrus has revealed the tracklist for her upcoming seventh studio album Plastic Hearts, out November 27th via RCA.

Cyrus posted the 12-song list to Instagram, with a glam rock-inspired graphic that listed the songs in what looks like pink Sharpie. Every instance of her initials, "M" and "C," are drawn in silver.

Along with posting the song names, Cyrus revealed the album's featured collaborators, including Dua Lipa (on the song "Prisoner"), Billy Idol (on "Night Crawling"), and JOAN JETT (on "Bad Karma"). Absent from the tracklist are Cyrus' popular covers of Blondie's "Heart of Glass" and the Cranberries' "Zombie," which were originally reported to be part of the new album.

So far Cyrus has released one single from Plastic Hearts, "Midnight Sky." She also released "Edge of Midnight," a fan-made remix of the track that mashed it up with Stevie Nicks' "Edge of Seventeen." Plastic Hearts will arrive in place of two EPs that Cyrus planned to release this year and later canceled after undergoing vocal cord surgery; last year, she teased those projects with the single "Slide Away."
