Billie Eilish also made an appearance at the awards show, which incorporates honors awarded by Clio's musical arm.
The Clio Awards, known as "the Oscars of advertising," celebrated its 60th anniversary at this year's ceremony Wednesday by honoring both creatives in the industry and stars like Sheryl Crow and JOAN JETT.
Pop culture juggernaut Andy Cohen hosted the show at the Manhattan Center in New York City, sprinkling in timely jokes - like the Clios' 1959 establishment being the same year Nancy Pence gave birth to her son: "I don't think that's the last time we're gonna see him come out" - while handing out Grand Clio trophies to ad agencies such as Droga5 and FCB.
Though Clio Music is a separate entity, much like Clio's other offshoots in sports, fashion, health and entertainment, the advertising ceremony typically includes awards for those in the music industry - one being the lifetime achievement award, which went to Jett this year.
"I was flying home from L.A. at the beginning of the year, and I watched the JOAN JETT documentary [Bad Reputation]. I've always known JOAN JETT, loved her music, thought she was amazing, but watching that documentary and seeing everything that she did for rock 'n' roll and women, and how she still is really helping young artists, just really blew me away," Clio president Nicole Purcell told The Hollywood Reporter. "She's a creative genius, from writing her own stuff to producing, starting her own label - she did it all to help women and she's still doing it. I got off the plane and I reached out to her manager."
Jett made a rare acoustic performance after accepting the award. During her speech, she referenced Nike's use of "Bad Reputation" in a spot that highlighted the Women's World Cup for soccer earlier this year. "It was stunning and carries a strong message beyond the brand," she said.
Crow received the Clio Music impact award, which honors artists whose originality has made a significant impact on pop culture and their industry, resulting in social change. Longtime friend Katie Couric introduced Crow, highlighting her work for organizations such as Sandy Hook Promise and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
"I will say, it's been an interesting journey. Obviously, a lot has changed not only in the music business, with people not buying albums anymore," Crow said on stage. "We get our music almost like we get our news; everything is very quick and it's all about the attention span and the demise of the attention span. So writing songs has become sort of an archaic practice, but for me, a 57-year-old woman, it's a fascinating time to be a songwriter and be a writer in general."
She went on to thank other creatives and writers - particularly, journalists. [more] Clio advertising awards ceremony from: dailymail.co.uk By DAN HECHING FOR DAILYMAIL.COM | Photo by Gregory Pace, REX

Sheryl Crow & JOAN JETT to Be Honored at 2019 Clio Music Awards from: billboard.com By Rania Aniftos
Clio Music announced on Wednesday (Sept. 11) that Sheryl Crow and JOAN JETT will both be receiving honorary Clio Music awards this year at the 60th annual Clio Awards.
Crow will be honored with the Clio Music Impact Award, which recognizes artists who have made a significant impact on popular culture through their originality, which as a result, move their industry forward and bring about social change. Crow, a fervent activist, recently joined Citi's #SeeHerHearHer initiative to advocate for gender equality in the music industry. She's also involved in a number of organizations, including Natural Resource Defense Council, Breast Cancer Research Foundation, American Red Cross, World Food Program and Sandy Hook Promise.
Jett will be the recipient of the 2019 Clio Music Lifetime Achievement Award, marked by a rare acoustic performance by the rock legend.
"I recently came across the documentary about JOAN JETT's life and career and was blown away by her creative impact," Nicole Purcell, Clio's president, said in a press statement. "She is a woman who blazed her own trail in so many aspects of her life, whether it be popularizing a new sound or creating opportunities for herself where none existed. For me, her most impactful achievement is in the way that she has given back to the next generation of women in rock 'n' roll and used her stardom as a platform to champion women's, LGBTQ and animal rights."
The Clio Awards, sponsored by Citi, will take place Sept. 25 in New York City. Carrie Underwood, JOAN JETT team up for electric Sunday Night Football open | NBC Sports from: NBC Sports By NBC Sports

After a three-year hiatus, the Waiting All Day for Sunday Night song is back for NBC's Sunday Night Football, the no. 1 rated television show in primetime for an unprecedented eight years.
JOAN JETT joins Carrie Underwood, who has been part of NBC's SNF theme for a number of years. As the Tennessean details:
The song, performed in previous years by Pink (2006), Faith Hill (2007-2012) and Underwood (2013-2015), is a rewrite of Jett's hit "I Hate Myself for Loving You," released in June 1988.
The last three seasons have been a different theme - ohhh Sunday Night! - performed by Underwood.
Two things to add here: 1) I'm oddly happy that this theme is back, even if that's a silly thing to admit out loud, and 2) I'll never be able to hear this song as long as I live without thinking about Mike Francesa ripping it and exclaiming, "Nobody's waiting all day for Sunday night. They watch football all day!". "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night" gets a rock redo for the NFL's 100th season
For her seventh season of performing the Sunday Night Football theme song "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night," Carrie Underwood brought along some rock star firepower: JOAN JETT, on whose 1988 hit "I Hate Myself for Loving You" the SNF theme is based.
Shot at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the home of the Atlanta Falcons, the clip - tailored for the SNF season opener of the Pittsburgh Steelers at the New England Patriots - captures Underwood and Jett on a brightly lit stage, with the country singer belting out lyrics about "the Steelers and the champs in a nasty showdown" and the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer cutting a quick solo.
The Sunday Night Football intro isn't the first time that Underwood and Jett have performed together. In June, the leader of the BLACKHEARTS was Underwood's surprise guest at CMA Fest in Nashville, joining her onstage to sing a medley of "I Hate Myself for Loving You," "Bad Reputation," "Crimson and Clover," and "I Love Rock 'n' Roll."
JOAN JETT and the Blackbearts and Carrie Underwood both continue their tours this week with shows in California. Jett plays with Heart at the Hollywood Bowl on Monday, while Underwood hits San Diego on Tuesday.

Fred Gaudelli knew NBC would have to come up with something grand for this season's "Sunday Night Football" opener given this is the NFL's 100th anniversary.
It didn't take long for the show's executive producer to arrive at something as Carrie Underwood came up with the perfect idea.
This season, the show will open with the original "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night" song, but this time Underwood will be joined by Rock & Roll Hall of Famer JOAN JETT. Jett's band, the BLACKHEARTS, also performs.
A preview of the new opener will air during Sunday's preseason game between Pittsburgh and Tennessee.
"Waiting All Day for Sunday Night" was adapted from Jett's 1988 hit "I Hate Myself for Loving You." Pink performed it first in 2006, followed by a country version sung by Faith Hill for six seasons and then Underwood, who did her own version from 2013 to 2015.
"It is a perfect way to celebrate the league's 100th season by going back to the beginning," Gaudelli said. "It is a perfect way to evolve and celebrate the song."
Gaudelli has known Jett and her manager, KENNY LAGUNA, for over 20 years. Their first collaboration came when Gaudelli was working for ESPN and Jett did a cover of "Real Wild Child" for the first X Games.
When Gaudelli moved to NBC in 2006 after the network acquired the Sunday night rights, he knew what he wanted as the theme song.
"We came up with different versions but when we called her and played a version, she said it was a great idea," Gaudelli said.
When Pink opted not do a second season, Gaudelli called Jett and asked her if she wanted to do the open in 2007, but she declined.
When Hill's version of the song debuted, Jett called Gaudelli and told him she always wanted to do a country version of "I Hate Myself for Loving You."
This is Underwood's seventh year as the featured performer for the opener. The seven-time Grammy winner sang "Oh Sunday Night" for two seasons and "Game On" last year. "Oh Sunday Night" was adapted from "Somethin' Bad," Underwood's duet with Miranda Lambert from 2014.
"I have always been a huge fan of Joan's, and I'm thrilled that she's joining us for the Sunday Night Football open," Underwood said in a statement. "What better way to pay homage to the original SNF opening song than by getting to play with her on primetime's biggest stage?"
The open, which will debut before the Sept. 7 game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots, was shot at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium. It was the first time it has been shot at an NFL stadium instead of a sound stage.
This isn't Jett's first foray into sports this year. She performed "Bad Reputation" during Wrestlemania in New York in April. Rhonda Rousey has used the song as her walkout music in the WWE and when she fought in the UFC.
