Wantagh -- Rock queen JOAN JETT performed with her band, the BLACKHEARTS, at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh on Long Island.
She shared the stage with fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Cheap Trick and Heart, both of which were able to warm up the stage for JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS.
Jett opened her set with her upbeat classic "Bad Reputation." "Long Island, yes," she exclaimed, as she had everybody jumping along. She continued with "Cherry Bomb," a tune from her days with the all-girl group The RUNAWAYS, which featured a killer guitar solo. "How are you doing everybody?" she asked. It's so great to be home."
She made the audience sing the words "oh yeah," in "Do You Wanna Touch Me," and she encouraged them to take deep breaths along the way. She went on to play songs from her latest album, Unvarnished, which included the drum-driven "TMI," as well as the infectious, "Soulmates to Strangers," where she showcased her raspy and nostalgic voice, as a psychedelic background displayed on the giant televised screen. "Thank you very much," she said, following its warm reception.
Jett took her fans on a trip down memory lane with the first song that The RUNAWAYS wrote "You Drive Me Wild." She went on to explain the backstory behind "Make It Back," which came about during the time of Hurricane Sandy, when she was living in Long Beach ("Yay Long Beach," Jett exclaimed), and she was impressed with the unity, empathy and togetherness of how people came to rebuild their communities after the hurricane. "The song was written about a place that makes you feel comfortable and alive," the rock queen said, referring to "Make It Back," which was an upbeat performance, coupled with optimistic lyrics. The "Bad Reputation" singer will share her love of rock 'n' roll with 23-year-old newbie coach Cyrus' post-blind audition contestants when the series returns this fall, reveals the show source.
It's no surprise that the "Wrecking Ball" singer chose Jett. Last year, she joked about wanting to have sex with the JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS frontwoman when she inducted Jett into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Cyrus called the "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" singer an "inspiration" and "what Superwoman really should be."

But Jett isn't the only rocker slated to join The Voice. Van Halen's lead Sammy Hagar has signed on to aid three-time victor Levine, 37. "Adam loves inviting rockers he admires," says the source. "He's a big fan of classic rock."
The Maroon 5 frontman and Hagar, 68, also share a history prior to teaming up for the show. Last year, the pals spent time together in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and even performed a duet of AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" at a local bar.

According to reports coming out of Hall H, the footage has a fresh, young, high--school movie tone, but also includes a reveal of the baddie who has been rumoured for some time.
Now it is definitely happening -- the Vulture is going to feature as one of Spidey's main antagonists.
The footage begins with JOAN JETT's 'Bad Reputation' on the soundtrack as we see old high--school yearbook shots of Tony Stark and Rhodey.
We then see Peter in school watching footage of himself fighting Giant--Man (as he did in Captain America: Civil War) and overhearing some of his female classmates discussing which of the Avengers they fancy (in a game of 'F**k, Marry, Kill').
Parker struggles with hiding his super suit, makes web fluid in science class and has to juggle the worries of a school kid as well as those that come with being a secret superhero.
The inclusion of a shot of the Vulture at the end indicates his stress levels are about to increase.
In Homecoming, he's strongly rumoured to be played by Michael Keaton, who's no stranger to the superhero genre -- obviously he was Batman in Tim Burton's films but more recently he played a delusional former superhero actor in Birdman.

BURGETTSTOWN â€" JOAN JETT was flawless.
Heart hit a few uneven patches outnumbered by triumphant ones, with the power ballads sounding better than ever.
And Cheap Trick curiously crafted its setlist to load up all the hits in the end, which at least meant a strong finish.

The headliners, Heart, expertly mixed the old with the new. The classic rock band played its banging new song about hot messes, "Beautiful Broken," and an interesting new one, "Two," written by Ne-Yo (seriously) about a mismatched couple persevering. Heart's Nancy Wilson did a nice job on the lead vocals of "Two" and the preceding ballad, "These Dreams," one of those dentist's office tunes that took on extra emotional heft Thursday. It's aged well.
As always, sister Ann Wilson handled most of the lead vocals, and she soared magnificently on another big power ballad "Alone." Her full voice also shined on "What About Love."
The harder-rocking songs were more the issue, with tune No. 2, the mighty "Magic Man," lacking guitar firepower. Heart, Cheap Trick and JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS -- bands that entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame long after their eligibility period -- showed why they belong there Thursday night on the Rock Hall 3 for All Tour at the First Niagara Pavilion.
It was three hours and 45 minutes of classic-rock heaven with a few surprises and a sprinkling of new tracks to allay the nostalgia factor.
While the bands were generous with the songs, one thing they did not do was let us get close to them. Cheap Trick played in the bright sunshine, so it wasn't an issue, but when the screens kicked in for Jett and Heart, there were no close-ups. Jett used he'r back screen for old film and video clips and graphics. The side and lawn screens for Heart were fixated on a static long shot of the band, so the overall effect was a feeling of distance from the artists.
The passion had to come from the music alone, and that was not a problem. Chicago power-pop icons Cheap Trick were up first with a 13-song set focusing on the golden era between 1977 and 1982. Frontman Robin Zander hit the stage in his white, glammed-out Dream Police garb, joined by Rick Nielsen in black suit and cap, original bassist Tom Petersson and Nielsen's son Daxx on drums (in place of Bun E. Carlos).
Nielsen, strapping on one oddly shaped guitar after another, including the five-neck black and yellow Hamer, was way up in the mix, but so was everyone else, making Cheap Trick's sound like a blaring radio. They warmed up with deeper singles like "Way of the World" and "She's Tight," new entry No Direction Home and the Petersson-led drug-run through "I'm Waiting for the Man"/"Heroin" before getting around to their calling cards, starting with chart-topping power ballad "The Flame."
They barrelled to a thrilling finish with "I Want You to Want Me," "Dream Police" and "Surrender," the last one coming with a surprise guest spot from one of their biggest Pittsburgh fans: Mayor Bill Peduto. Our rock mayor has been on a summer swing that included an appearance with Guster at the Three Rivers Arts Festival in June. JOAN JETT continues to burnish her image as a feminist icon, remaining a figure as singular as any the 1970s has produced.
JOAN JETT was my favorite Rock star -- and my second favorite famous person after Cincinnati Reds pitcher Mario Soto -- when I was a kid. I listened to side one of I Love Rock N' Roll on my crappy little box turntable almost every day -- often multiple times a day -- for more than a year. I turned the volume up on my equally crappy radio every time the title song came on Q102 or WEBN, which, at the height of its popularity, was about once an hour.
The collision of simple, classic guitar chords, Jett's tough-girl voice and her goth-informed visage staring out from the album's cover left me endlessly fascinated. As an early--'80s Cincinnati suburbanite, I'd never experienced anything like her. (It's hard to fathom today that she was only 22 at the time.) She seemed simultaneously glamorous and kind of dangerous (maybe it was the leather pants and I've-experienced-more-than-you sneer?).
Though I didn't follow her career closely post--I Love Rock N' Roll -- nor did I really get into her pre-solo '70s group, The RUNAWAYS, like I did other bands of the Punk Rock era -- I've had a soft spot for Jett ever since. And while a lot has happened over the last quarter century, the recording of much new material hasn't been one of them; Jett, now 57 and a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, has dropped only three albums in the last 22 years.
Yet she continues to play live and to burnish her image as a feminist icon and remains, despite shifting cultural trends, a figure as singular as any the 1970s has produced.

Heart's 14-song set saw them eschew some of their biggest hits -- "Magic Man," "Never" and "All I Wanna Do Is Make Love to You," for example, were nowhere to be found -- in favor of four songs from their new album, Beautiful Broken, "Two", "Sweet Darlin'," "I Jump" and the title track. After closing the main portion with "Barracuda," they performed two Led Zeppelin songs, "Immigrant Song" and "Misty Mountain Hop."

Heart, Cheap Trick and JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS have shared myriad concert bills since all three began touring during the 70s.
But each of the veteran acts' recent inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame provided a hook for this summer's Rock Hall Three For All tour, a triple-bill that kicks off Thursday, July 14, at the DTE Energy Music Theatre and has more than 30 dates booked into September.
Heart's Ann Wilson says the tour name and concept came into place after the three groups were already lining up for the trek. "I think the three together was such a natural for the people putting this tour together," Wilson says by phone from her tour bus. "We all know each other and like each other, so it's cool.
"And the Hall of Fame hook is something that was sort of put on the tour after the fact. If one or both or all three of us had never been inducted, it would still be the same. But if people are on the fence and they go, 'Well, all three bands are in the Rock Hall...,' if that's going to make them come to the thing, it's worthwhile."
Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen expects a night of "male AND female testosterone," acknowledging the hard-rocking approach of his tourmates. But he's also confident the whole will be greater than the sum of its parts for fans trooping out to the shows.
"Y'know, it's all good bands, bands that have stood the test of time," says Nielsen, 67, whose band was inducted in April and will be going on first each night, with Heart closing the shows. "We're all still making records, too, and that's almost unheard of."
With that in mind, here's a rundown of the three groups' Rock Hall experiences, and what they've led to.

What It Means To Them; "The Rock Hall to musicians is something that is kind of like going into a museum," explains Wilson, 66, who co-founded Heart with her sister, guitarist Nancy Wilson, during 1973 in Seattle. "So you sort of accept the induction with gratitude, and it's flattering to be recognized by your peers or by the rock intelligentsia, whatever it is.

Every year, the Cleveland-based Hall inducts several artists of classic status, and now three of those chosen are taking their honor out on tour. One of the most successful female-fronted hard rock bands, Heart is celebrating four decades making music. Known for the vocal/guitar team of sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson and their chilling melodic rock, the band is on the verge of releasing its 16th album, Beautiful Broken. Worldwide, Heart has sold over 35 million records. With mega hits like "Barracuda," "Alone," "What About Love," and the fiercely popular "These Dreams," the band has never lost its style. Ann Wilson's bombastic vocals never disapoint, and the hard rocking rhythm of sister Nancy's guitar still complements her. When they were inducted into the Hall in 2013, the original members played together for the first time in 34 years. Yet the core of this band is still very much intact and on point. Mixing classics tunes with new, Heart knows what their crowd wants, and gives it to them with an esteemed pleasure.
Formed in Rockford, Ill., in 1973, Cheap Trick were to become not only a major success, but one of the most influential rock bands ever. This is one hard-working band, as they are known for their constant touring, with over 5,000 shows under their belt. Crowds have enjoyed Cheap Trick's albums in the '70s, '80s, '90 s, and the millennium. Over that course of time, they have scored some big hits. Tunes like "Surrender," "The Flame," and the über dreamy "I Want You to Want Me," the band has been cited by such acts as Stone Temple Pilots, Extreme, Green Day, and Foo Fighters, just to name a few, as a major influence. Even C.C. DeVille admitted that Poison's "Talk Dirty to Me" was inspired by "She's Tight." In January 2016, the band announced their first album in five years, Bang, Boom, Crazy…Hello, to be unleashed in April. In 2015, Cheap Trick was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Lead singer Robin Zander, guitarist Rick Nielson, bassist Tom Petersson, and longtime drummer Bun E. Carlos have indeed contributed to rock 'n' roll's timelessness. Live, the band is right on point. Many a hit, plus a few new tunes, are sure to be played.
Originally a member of the all-female '70s band the RUNAWAYS, singer, songwriter, guitarist, and occasional actress JOAN JETT has rocked audiences for more than four decades. It was her solo version of "I Love Rock and Roll" in the early 1980s that put her on the charts in a big way.
