Maria Bello (Prime Suspect, Touch) is getting behind the wheel of Big Driver, a Lifetime movie based on Stephen King's horror novella, TVLine has learned.
Oscar winner Olympia Dukakis, rock icon JOAN JETT and NCIS guest star Will Harris have also been cast in the project, which marks the first collaboration between King and Lifetime.
Big Driver, which was featured in King's collection Full Dark, No Stars, centers on Bello's Tess Thorne (Bello), a famous and revered mystery and thriller writer who faces a long drive home following a book signing engagement. While driving on a lonely stretch of New England road, her tire blows out, leaving her stranded. Relieved when another driver (Harris) stops and offers assistance, Tess quickly discovers her savior is actually her assailant, a serial killer who repeatedly assaults her. Left for dead in a drainage pipe to rot with the bodies of his other victims, Tess escapes and makes her way safely home. With her fragile mind beginning to unravel, she is determined to find her rapist and seek revenge, as payback is the only thing holding her together.
Richard Christian Matheson (Masters of Horror, Happy Face Killer) is penning the adaptation and Mikael Salomon (Drew Peterson: Untouchable) is directing. There's no doubt that Summerfest 2014 is full of quality entertainment and everyday at
the festival is an opportunity to see some amazing musicians and bands perform at the
grounds stages. From rock to country to reggae, Summerfest 2014 has you covered. There's nothing better than getting your favorite food and beverage and checking out one of your favorite bands, or a band you have never heard before, and enjoying the afternoon or evening along the Milwaukee lakefront. Here's my list of 5 must-see performances during Summerfest 2014.
1. Nora Collins
Nora has been making a name for herself in Wisconsin and beyond for a few years now. Recently Nora won the 2014 WAMI for Singer/Songwriter of the Year and in the past won the
2012 and 2013 WAMI Rising Star award. When you see Nora you can expect to hear her sing
her original music and a nice mix of contemporary and classic covers. You can also expect to be blown away by her powerful vocals. Nora Collins plays June 29 at 3p.m. at the Uline
Warehouse Stage as well as daily performances at the Tiki Hut throughout the duration of
Summerfest 2014. Tip generously, the artists at the Tiki hut deserve it!
2. The Pretty Reckless
The Pretty Reckless have had a pretty amazing year, all things considered. Their new album
"Going To Hell," has been a success with their single "Heaven Knows" hitting number 1 on
the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart. It stayed in that position for 5 weeks. Lead singer Taylor Momsen recovered from a sickness that caused the band to cancel a tour earlier in the year, and now they're back and ready to rock Milwaukee during the big gig. The Pretty Reckless play June 27 at 3p.m. at the Harley stage.
3. JOAN JETT
Anyone who saw Jett play the Harley 110th celebration last summer knows that she still
means business. There's no stopping someone with as much passion for rock n' roll as Joan
Jett, and her live shows pack a punch. Expect to hear Jett's big hits of the 80's, some classic tunes from her band The RUNAWAYS and some new material from her album "Unvarnished." JOAN JETT plays July 2 at 9:30p.m. at the Uline Warehouse stage.
4. Elizabeth Lyons
Country musician Elizabeth Lyons made waves last year with her single "Everything Tonight," and performed at Summerfest 2013. Lyons is back this year with a new single "Jeep!" and is set to release a follow up on June 22 titled "#PartyRules." Lyons will bring her fun and free spirited country attitude to Summerfest 2014 on July 6 at 5p.m. at the Uline Warehouse stage and will help close out the festival.
5. Yonder Mountain String Band
Yonder Mountain String Band recently parted ways with Jeff Austin so this summer they're
bringing on the road with them mandolinist Jake Jolliff and violinist Allie Kral, best known for her time with the jamgrass band Cornmeal. Yonder brings with them a unique bluegrass sound and a penchant for taking things to the next level with their jams. Allie Kral is worth the price of admission alone, her skills on the violin will leave you mesmerized. Yonder Mountain String Band plays July 1 at 9:45p.m at the Uline Warehouse stage.
A JOAN JETT Story You May Have Never Heard from: 103wjod.com By Tom Brenner
Tonight, JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS are performing along the Mississippi in the Port of Dubuque. As you may know, I played in rock bands for many years and have met many musicians. Here’s a little known story. Many years ago, when the band just started, they were performing in a small town in central Illinois. They had some time the afternoon before the show and Joan was exploring the town. She found a large general store that carried many things.... both large and small antiques, beautiful collector stones, and they made pastries! JOAN JETT was excited. As she entered the store she exclaimed "Wow, I like rocks... and rolls! As a matter of fact, I love rocks and rolls!... Hey look!... A jukebox!!!" Chattanooga's Live Music Scene â€" Riverbend 2014 Day 8 JOAN JETT from: chattanoogan.com By Bob Payne
One of only two women to have been named to Rolling Stones list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists, iconic Rocker JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS brings some rock and roll to the Coke Stage at Riverbend tonight. A 2012 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominee, JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS has been rocking hard for more than 30 years. Be at the Coca-Cola Stage at 9:30 p.m.
In a stroke of programming genius, the two bands on the VW Stage fit right in to the JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS crowd. Ragdoll & Aunt Betty, two bands that know each other well from playing local venues, are perfectly suited to warm up the Jett crowd. Ragdoll, the rock band fronted by Rhonda Denham, will give JOAN JETT a run for her money in the rock & roll department. Aunt Betty is an Atlanta based 80's rock band that also will get the Coke Stage crowd plenty fired up by show time. For Paula Cannon, her love of JOAN JETT coalesced one day in seventh grade. Onstage. In front of the entire school.
"JOAN JETT and her 'I Love Rock 'n' Roll' would cause me to be some air-freak guitar-band girl with nothing but plastic black garbage bags pressed and taped skintight to my body in front of the whole school in a talent show as lead singer screaming 'I love rock 'n' roll,'" she recalls. "That day, Bridgeport, Ala., knew who Paula Cannon was, and she found out herself!"
No doubt there are thousands of young girls who grabbed a hairbrush or air guitar and headed for the mirror when Jett was cranking out hits like the No. 1 "I Love Rock 'n' Roll," "I Hate Myself for Loving You" and "Do You Wanna Touch" in the '80s. Jett was the epitome of cool rock chick -- guitar slung low, tight leather outfits, thousand-watt smile and an uncompromising yet approachable dedication to three-chords-and-a-cloud-of-dust rock.
Randy Black of Chattanooga remembers when WOWE-FM (now WRXR Rock 105) first went on the air back in the 1980s and played "I Love Rock 'n Roll" for 24 hours straight.
"I liked her because her tunes rocked and they were often fast-paced," says Black, who later held down the 5 p.m.-to-midnight deejay shift at the radio station, a job that had him "playing a lot of JJ."
And JJ is still doing it at 55. Last September, Jett released "Unvarnished," her first record in seven years. Always a road warrior, she's been out on tour in the months since its release and, along with the usual indoor shows, she's hitting more than a dozen outdoor festival and fairs this summer.
She began working on songs for the album back in 2011 but wanted to take them out on the road, put them in front of an audience, before recording them. [more] Don't Miss: Jett Pack
A new exhibition showcases the world of the RUNAWAYS. from: wmagazine.com By Carole Sabas
JOAN JETT was 15 when she debuted with her all-girl band the RUNAWAYS. Even then, the wild child with a black shag and a leather jacket was a fashion icon. An exhibition, opening June 13 at Evil Rock N Roll Hollywood Cat, a new store in L.A., pays homage with rare photos by Brad Elterman, vintage posters, and original albums-all curated by owner Juliana Sorelli with Kristen Stewart and Riley Keough, who starred in a 2010 biopic about the band.

JOAN JETT is one of the coolest ladies in the biz. She has been around for years, has played all over the world and always looks confident and stunning!
She was one of two women to make the Rolling Stone's list of the top 100 guitarists of all time.. and so basically she is just one bad-ass babe.
I love having style role models and JOAN JETT is definitely one of mine! Her heavy eyeliner, beautiful smile and black-on-black look is totally awesome!

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - When it comes to rock & roll, look no further than JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS to satisfy your needs.
JOAN JETT is an artist of visionary detail and an originator in the rock music industry. With hits dating back to the mid to late 70's in her first band called The RUNAWAYS, she is still working the music scene and bringing classic rock on the road.
After placing an ad in the L.A. Weekly for a few good men to continue on in her journey as a rock goddess, Jett received word from John Doe in the local L.A. band X about local artists that could definitely fill the positions to complete her band. After several men came in and out of the band, her band finally became complete with lead guitarist DOUGIE NEEDLES, lead bassist Acey Slade, and drums THOMMY PRICE.
With eight platinum and gold albums, this female rockstar and her band have no intentions of slowing down or changing their ways. JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS have nine top 40 singles being on the charts such as "Crimson and Clover", "I Love Rock 'N' Rock", "I Hate Myself for Loving You", and "Bad Reputation."
JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS are currently on tour going across the country and selling out several venues. They recently put out a new album called "Unvarnished."
JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS will perform on the Coca-Cola Stage at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, June 13. Watch the Full Nirvana Hall of Fame Induction from: rollingstone.com By RYAN REED
Nirvana fans have read all about the band's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, and probably even watched Michael Stipe's moving speech. But now the entire 38-minute Nirvana event is available online â€" including the three-minute video intro, featuring archival commentary from Kurt Cobain and reflective asides from drummer Dave Grohl and bassist Krist Novoselic.
"The momentum and excitement at the time was so great because there was just like this new thing happening," Cobain says toward the beginning of the bittersweet clip, which blends goofy band-shot footage with live performance clips and interviews. "No one could quite pinpoint it, but we knew that we were a part of it." Elsewhere, Grohl reflects on the band's explosive live legacy ("There are bands that can either be the greatest band in the world â€" or a total fuckin' trainwreck, and Nirvana was kind of one of those bands") and Novoselic touches on the band's "big crisis" ("Nirvana didn't go to the mainstream; the mainstream came to Nirvana").
Of course, Stipe's induction is equally awesome, as he talks about missing Cobain and, at one point, quotes Urban Dictionary. "It is the highest calling for an artist, as well as the greatest possible privilege, to capture a moment, to find the zeitgeist, to expose our struggles, our aspirations, our desires, to embrace and define their time," he says. "That is my definition of an artist. Nirvana captured lightning in a bottle." After accepting the award, Grohl says he was "the luckiest person in the world" to be in the band, and Novoselic adds a thank you to their fallen friend: "I want to say thank you to Kurt Cobain, and I wish Kurt was here tonight, OK?"
Then there are the wide-ranging performances, with Grohl, Novoselic and guitarist Pat Smear joined by four female rock icons. JOAN JETT helps out with a seering "Smells Like Teen Spirit"; Sonic Youth vocalist-bassist Kim Gordon adds abrasive wails to "Aneurysm"; St. Vincent's Annie Clark helps out with "Lithium" and Lorde assist on "All Apologies."
Nirvana entered the Rock Hall in their first year of eligibility, alongside an eclectic mix of artists, including Kiss, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, Cat Stevens and Linda Ronstadt. Roger Daltrey and JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS to Support Teen Cancer America and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, 7/28 from: broadwayworld.com By Molly Eichel, Daily News Staff Writer
THE WHO's Roger Daltry and JOAN JETT are teaming up for a Philly show to aid Teen Cancer America, and I've got the details early.
Daltry and Jett, who was born in Wynnewood but left the area when she was still a baby, will rock the Kimmel Center on July 28 to support the charity, whose mission is to help teenagers in their fight against cancer.
Most treatment options focus on either kids or adults. But Teen Cancer America will enable Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to enhance their treatment of teens by creating a new space for young adults. Daltry is a massive supporter of the U.K. iteration, the Teenage Cancer Trust. The U.S. version of the charity is based in L.A., but includes local board members, such as Elkins Park's Howard Jaffe, who is a massive Who fan himself.
Tickets to the event will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at kimmelcenter.org. VIP packages range from $500 to $2,000 (including meet-and-greets). Normal tickets range from $75 to $150. Who's taking a Jett here to fight teen cancer? from: philly.com By Molly Eichel, Daily News Staff Writer

NORWALK â€" JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS will be bringing their "bad reputation" to Norwalk as the headlining act of the Norwalk Seaport Association Oyster Festival, organizers announced Saturday.
The iconic singer and her longtime backing band will rock the main stage on Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Oyster Festival, which takes place from Friday, Sept. 5 to Sunday, Sept. 7.
"I'm so excited," said Irene Dixon, president of the seaport association. "They're an iconic ‘80s group. I can't wait. They're going to be so great. I love rock ‘n roll."
Jett stormed into the music industry as a teenager with The RUNAWAYS, an all-female proto-punk band that also featured pop metal legend Lita Ford. After the dissolution of The RUNAWAYS, Jett produced the first and only full-length album by Los Angeles punk legends The Germs and began recruiting the musicians that would eventually form her backing band The BLACKHEARTS. JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS scored many high-charting hard rock hits throughout the 1980s with tunes like "I Love Rock ‘n Roll" and "I Hate Myself for Loving You." [more]
