To play with fire
from: VOIR.CA – Montreal
by Patrick Ouellet
Note: This article was originally translated from French
JOAN JETT initially dreamed with the trade of actress. But it was enough for him to thread an electric guitar so that very an other way is essential. And for a young woman, the path rock' roll was definitely less cleared only Hollywood Boulevard.
To tell the truth, one apprehended a bit maintenance. Nebulas availabilities, thorough investigation of management, without counting the cat-like reputation of the injury in interview. Or perhaps this was this hard black image of leather and mane... But it is of a voice generous and finely granulous that JOAN JETT remembers its first electric guitar, at a few hours in a concert in Wisconsin. "Oh yes! I had it in Christmas of my 13 years. I wanted to really make noise!" launch the native one of Philadelphia. But already, the obstacles were profiled. "I wanted to take courses and to learn how to play of the rock'n'roll. The professor looked me while wanting to say: "Not, but lost you the head?" Then I followed only one course then I gave up ", that which adds had to be satisfied with a written method. "Then I learned how to play on my discs; David Bowie, T-Rex or Black Sabbath, all that had quite fatty agreements and heavy riffs... "
It is armed with these ingredients, the top of its 15 years, which it joint in RUNAWAYS, punk-glam quintet rock'n'roll with the female one, which will count inter alia Lita Ford (guitar) and Michael Steele (voice), later of Bangles. But a band of girls to the fatty guitars, at the end of the Seventies, that did not run the clubs. Managers, large dukes of industry, technicians, fellow-members male and media cloîtraient themselves in skepticism. "people did not take to us with the serious one; one was made treat of all the names! And that really put to me in anger. I have the impression that it is because the rock' roll does not have something of very sexual ", estimates that which has hardly noted improvement on this point for 20 years. "That disturbs several of them to see on scene of the women assuming their sexuality of the kind; they feel threatened and that makes them aggressive. That can be frustrating, but also very énergisant!"

Def Leppard, JOAN JETT rock Music Midtown
from: luminomagazine.com
Written by and photos by Anita Maree Lande
If you have only one weekend to spend in Atlanta, may I suggest the timing for the musical event called – Music Midtown. During this popular Friday through Sunday extravaganza, you can get a taste of any type of music. Appearing live on multiple stages included a handful of talented performances including local punk rockers Luna Halo, country superstar Alan Jackson, The White Stripes, and hip-hop sensation Kid Rock.
Other big names that showcased their music were Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Canadian rock twins Tegan & Sara, the legendary JOAN JETT, and classic rockers Def Leppard.
On Sunday, the final day of Music Midtown, the heavy downpour of rain finally ended during a pretty miserable Saturday, and when the sun broke out to a perfect 90 degrees JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS took stage to perform one hour worth of their greatest hits. Everyone was rockin' when she performed many crowd favorites like "Bad Reputation", "Roadrunner", "Cherry Bomb", and of course "I Love Rock n Roll." The good news is that a new JOAN JETT CD will be released this fall, and the crowd was over-excited to hear the news.
