Five questions with JOAN JETT
from: www.suburbanchicagonews.com
Hailed by the New York Times as "godmother to female musicians with loud guitars and idealistic dreams," hard-edged JOAN JETT sets the stage on fire with the hits that defined rock 'n' roll. Featuring the famous I Love Rock 'n' Roll, Bad Reputation, and I Hate Myself for Loving You, Jett's concerts are as intense and edgy as the the diva herself. She comes to the Paramount Theatre for one performance, on Jan. 31.
Jett helped open the doors to the music industry to future female rock starts. For this inspiring groundbreaking, fellow musicians from Lilith Fair and the Nine Inch Nails have cited her as an inspiration and as "the backbone of today's rock 'n' roll feminist revolution." Jett hit the scene in the late '70s in The RUNAWAYS. This start helped her define the original sound that would later help break Jett out on her own, finding success with a solo career and eventually as front woman for the BLACKHEARTS. With an international fan base craving her notorious sound, Jett formed her own independent label, BLACKHEART RECORDS.

Surprise Stormers Invade Ranger Camp
from: deanforamerica.com
The Texas Rangers returned to their camp late last night, expecting a night of resting and preparing for the next days canvas and calls. At one of their smaller cabins, a small entourage of strangers appeared, looking to hang out and talk with them. One by one, the rangers started speculating as to who these strangers were. "Is that Janeane Garofalo?" one asked? "No," said another, "She has brown hair." "She sure looks like Janeane Garofalo." "That looks like JOAN JETT with her." "No way."
Word spread through the camp, rapidly, as more and more people started to recognize the duo walking in their midst. Sure enough, they were right. Janeane and Joan surprised the Texans (Janeane went blond for those who don't know) and they spent the evening carousing and having a good time. They even donned the Orange Hat For Democracy! Both of them have expressed interest in the blog so be expecting a visit here as well.

The movie version Behind The Revolution is slated to be released later this year.

JOAN JETT and KENNY LAGUNA: Visiting US Troops, Supporting Howard Dean, Planning Hit Record
from: chicagoinnerview.com
by: Melanie Falina
It can be said that behind every great, leather-clad woman is a great co-songwriting man. And just like any other society-conscious musical dynamic duo, they're on a mission to make the world a better place. Well... and to rock.
With plans for touring, recording a new album, generating a Top-40 hit and ardently supporting presidential candidate Howard Dean, JOAN JETT and her loyal collaborator of over 20 years, KENNY LAGUNA, have a busy new year mapped out for them. But it's a pace they're used to.
"We never really have a tour," explains Laguna in a wide-ranging, in-depth interview with Chicago Innerview, "but we have to call it a tour for the media folks and record companies to understand what is it. We do all things all the time. In years past, you wouldn't even see a break. We've been working on the [Jett album in progress] for six years. Normally, we're always writing, we're always recording, we're always doing concerts." [more]
