BAY CITY, MI - While it may not look like it outside, summertime will eventually be here in Bay City - and that means concerts galore along the waterfront.

On Wednesday, March 8, officials announced the 2023 Rockin' the River concert lineup. Rockin' the River is a series of concerts that are scheduled throughout the summer in Bay City. Eight bands were announced but plans are still in the works for an additional ninth act.

"We are going to be doing nine concerts this summer, last year we did three," said Michael Baccigalupo of the State Theatre.

All of the Rockin' the River concerts will be held at the new Wenonah Park bandshell along the Saginaw River in downtown Bay City.

This year's lineup includes popular bands such as 38 Special, Styx and JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS.

The venue has been popular with performers in the past. Todd Michael Hall of heavy metal band Riot V, one of the bands that are coming to play in Bay City this summer, reflected on this during the announcement. Hall was born in Saginaw and is the lead singer for Riot V.

"I'm really excited to play the show should be a great night," Hall said. "It's such a beautiful venue. I remember actually last summer when the sun started to go down and everything,"

Hall is no stranger to the Bay City area. He was born and raised in Saginaw and he said he remembered all the activities here in Bya City from when he was younger, including the Bay City's popular Fourth of July festivities.

"I'm really looking forward to the show, you guys have done such a great job in Bay City, it's such a draw for people," he said.

This summer's schedule is as follows:
July 7: Gabby Barret & Ashley McBryde
July 8: Styx
July 21: 38 Special
July 22: Here Come the Mummies
August 4: Riot V
August 5: Larry McCray's Blue Festival
August 18: JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS
August 19: Paul Young, Tommy Two Tone and Rick Springfield

Tickets for all concerts will go on sale on Wednesday, March 15 at the State Theatre Box Office or by visiting www.statetheatre.com.
