Nirvana Reunion 2014: JOAN JETT To Front Grunge Band In Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame After Dave Grohl's Instagram Post; Cobain Hologram Not Happening

Nirvana Reunion 2014: Nirvana is ready to rock the world as the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame President Joel Peresman is pleased to announce the inductees for the 2014 ceremony on April 10 in Brooklyn.
The 90's Grunge band is expected to play some songs for the crowd but it would be hard to do it without their front man Kurt Cobain. Earlier this year, it was reported that PJ Harvey would front the band during awards night as the band mates and Dave Grohl even hinted that Cobain loves Harvey, in an interview.
"Every once in a while we talk about it. For the Sound City gig here in London we were thinking about musicians that we could invite because Stevie Nicks and John Fogerty couldn't make it. Someone suggested doing a Nirvana song with PJ Harvey. Kurt loved her and we love her and we thought, 'Yeah, what would we do?' I said: 'God, what if we were to do 'Milk It' from 'In Utero' with Polly singing?' We all looked at each other like, 'Woah, that would be amazing...' and then she couldn't do it!"
But it was until early this week that Dave Grohl hinted on the Foo Fighter's Instagram account that JOAN JETT would probably be the one playing for Nirvana on the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
Posted on the band's Instagram account is Jett's iconic guitar alongside, what appears like a bass guitar of Krist Novoselic and assumedly Pat Smear's guitar.
Other rumors suggest that a hologram of Kurt Cobain will be played but it will never happen with Dave Grohl.
Headlining the inductees is the icon in Rock and Roll, Nirvana, which was nominated for the first time, as it is eligible this year after they released their first single "Love Buzz" in 1988.
"That's really no surprise to me," says Rock and Roll Hall of Fame President and CEO Joel Peresman to Rolling Stones. "People see the relevancy of that band. We're just getting into the creative of the show, so I don't know what's going to happen with that performance. They have to figure it out."
Living members of the band Nirvana were ecstatic and very happy with the announcement. Nirvana Drummer Dave Grohl, now fronting the band Foo Fighters, expressed his appreciation for the award and thanked his band mates saying, without them he will be nothing today.
"For once... I'm speechless," Grohl said in a statement. "From the basements, to the dingy clubs, to the broken down vans, to... the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I'd like to thank the committee not only for this induction, but also for recognizing Nirvana for what we were: pure rock and roll. Most of all, thank you to all of the fans that have supported rock and roll throughout the years, and to Kurt and Krist, without whom I would not be here today."
Also, members of the band remember Kurt Cobain for inspiring people to make great music and said they honor the award to the late musician.
"This is a great honor," Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic gladly said after hearing the news. "Thank you to the people who nominated and voted for us. Thank you most of all to Kurt Cobain. And to everyone who's kept Rock music going strong for 60 years and counting." |
