JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS, Dropkick Murphys and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones are coming to Baltimore this fall as part of an all-day concert in Southwest Baltimore.
The artists are part of "The Shindig" -- being promoted by 24-7 Entertainment -- on Sept. 14 at Carroll Park. General admission tickets to the day-long concert cost $48.50, while VIP tickets are priced at $125. Tickets go on sale to the general public May 17 at 10 a.m.
Gates will open to the park at noon for the concert, with musical acts scheduled to take the stage around 1 p.m.
Other musical acts for the festival include the Gaslight Anthem, the Hold Steady, Clutch, Jimmie's Chicken Shack, Bad Seed Rising and Larry and his Flask.
Baltimore-based 24-7 Entertainment helped organize the Charm City Music Festival at Harbor Point last September. The concert in Pigtown means the end of the Charm City Music Festival.
CBS Radio and 24-7 Entertainment split ways after last year's festival, said Chris Keith, events manager for 24-7 Entertainment. And with Harbor Point unavailable due to the start of construction on the site, the group wanted a fresh start in Carroll Park, Keith said.
Still, the Shindig expects to attract at least the 10,000 fans that attended the Charm City Music Festival last year, he said. Keith said 20,000 people for the concert would be a good goal to achieve.
"I think we put together a great festival, especially for this market," Keith said. "It's a very Ottobar, rock and roll friendly."
Jett reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in 1982 with a cover of the Jake Hooker song "I Love Rock Ôn' Roll." The Dropkick Murphys are an American-based Irish punk band known for their 2005 single "I'm Shipping up to Boston."
24-7 Entertainment is looking for event sponsorships from various Baltimore-area companies, Keith said. Everything from electronic and automotive companies, to Baltimore staples like Under Armour or Old Bay, he said.
The concert will also promote itself up and down the mid-Atlantic, he said, hoping to attract fans from New Jersey to Richmond, Va.
"We're going after this from a partnership standpoint," Keith said. "We're looking for people that are excited about this."
The Shindig will include feature two main stages in Carroll Park, as the bands will not play overlapping sets of music. There will also be a third side stage sponsored by Ripley's Believe it or Not dedicated to performers with "rare talent and oddities."
Fans will be able to park at the Montgomery Park office park. Parking passes cost $15 and are sold separately with the purchase of a ticket.
The Shindig will help bring attention to some of the attractions in the West Baltimore neighborhood, said Ben Hyman, executive director of Pigtown Main Street.
"We're excited to show off Historic Pigtown and welcome Baltimore's newest festival to our neighborhood," Hyman said.
