Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan + David Bowie Lead Record Store Day Black Friday Releases
from: ultimateclassicrock.com

low resolution image Not Enlargeable Black Friday is always a big day for shopping, and the folks behind Record Store Day are getting in on the action by making a number of special releases from David Bowie, the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, the Beach Boys and more available specifically at record stores on Nov. 23.

Most of the efforts come in the once-again hip vinyl format, and will be sold exclusively at participating independent record stores. A number of top classic rock artists are doing their part for the record stores that provided so much for them early in their career.

Listed below are a number of the initial confirmed releases for Record Store Day's Black Friday promotion, as detailed via Record Store Day's website. They include:

- The Beach Boys are offering a 10-inch vinyl that includes their first-ever single as well as their most recent single.

- David Bowie provides a 12-inch picture disc for the 40th anniversary of his hit song 'Jean Genie.'

- Bob Dylan delivers his latest single, 'Duquesne Whistle,' from the 'Tempest' album, backed with a previously unreleased version of 'Meet Me in the Morning' from the 'Blood on the Tracks' sessions. The songs will be part of a 7-inch vinyl release.

- The Grateful Dead's 'Live at Winterland,' recorded in May 1971, will be available as a two-LP 180-gram vinyl gatefold release.

- JOAN JETT's 'Bad Reputation' will be exclusively reissued for Record Store Day in a one-time pressing of 2,500 copies on 180-gram clear vinyl. This limited edition LP includes an enhanced CD of 'Bad Reputation' with bonus tracks and live footage.

- Nirvana's 'Incesticide' will be reissued as a 12-inch vinyl for its 20th anniversary. It will be released on 180-gram virgin vinyl discs and cut at 45RPM for superior audio quality. The jacket design includes the lyric sheet art and comes housed in a deluxe gatefold sleeve.

- The Ramones' Joey Ramone's 'Ya Know?' solo effort will be issued as a limited edition deluxe package, complete with the full album, a 40-minuted DVD, and a playabout five-inch green vinyl.

- Joe Strummer's 'Live at Action Town Hall' comes from a previously unreleased 2002 benefit concert. It's notable for the fact that his former Clash mate Mick Jones joined Strummer for the show.

- The Rolling Stones self-titled EP is available as a 7-inch vinyl for the first time since its release in 1964. It includes the songs 'You Better Move On,' 'Poison Ivy,' 'Bye Bye Johnny,' and 'Money.'

- Velvet Underground and Nico deliver this rare 1966 recording session at Scepter Studios as part of the 'Scepter Studios Acetate.' This collection features alternate versions of songs that appeared on later records.

- Frank Zappa's 'Why Don'cha Do Me Right' and 'Big Leg Emma' turn up as a 7-inch single, marking their first availability on vinyl since 1967.

There are also a number of albums that will arrive first as part of the Record Store Day Black Friday festivities before enjoying a wider release. They include:

- Big Brother & the Holding Company featuring Janis Joplin return with their 'Cheap Thrills' 180-gram Mono reproduction.

- Judas Preist's 'Screaming for Vengeance' will arrive as a 30th anniversary picture disc.
