TOMORROW: Brooklyn Borough Grandmaster Marty Markowitz has declared Saturday Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival Day for the third annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Fest. Ghostface, Consequence, Emily King, Dres, Ralph McDaniels and others take the stage at the Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park (noon to 8 p.m.) in DUMBO. The East River Park Amphitheater (FDR Drive at Cherry Street), the first home of Shakespeare in the Park and offering views of the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges, opens its season with the Ex-Models, S-S-S-Spectres, Hundred Eyes and Mikey Bones, four diverse rock acts not often seen in daylight hours. (2 p.m. start)

SUNDAY: Head to McCarren Pool in WilLiamsburg, Brooklyn, for Slip 'n Slide, dodge ball, Hula-hooping and a steel-drum band. Oh, and some pretty great rock acts - Jelly NYC Pool Parties open with Superchunk, Oakley Hall and D.J. Todd-O-Phonic Todd.

vv Sloan, a glam-pop foursome from Nova Scotia, tops the bill at the annual Canada Day at Central Park SummerStage (Rumsey Playfield; [212] 360-2777; summerstage.org).

Toronto's Apostle of Hustle features Broken Social Scene guitarist Andrew Whiteman, who expresses his love for the Cuban guitar on the band's sophomore album, "National Anthem of Nowhere," and the Duhks, a country quintet hailing from Winnipeg that was nominated for a Grammy last year.

TUESDAY: The Living Room shifts into the twilight zone for its River to River Fest songwriters evening with Martha Wainwright, Chris Thile, Ari Hest, Jim Campilongo and others at the World Financial Center Plaza (Battery Park City; [212] 528-2733; rivertorivernyc.com).

WEDNESDAY: For jazz fans, singer Paula West and the incredibly entertaining guitarist John Pizzarelli perform at Rockefeller Park (Battery Park City; [212] 945-0505; (rivertoriverfestnyc.com). If it rains, head to the Stuyvesant High School auditorium.

The seven-piece Mingus Dynasty, will celebrate the 85th birthday of the late jazz great Charles Mingus at Madison Square Park (23rd Street at Broadway; madisonsquare-park.org).
