Great weather Sunday saves Fest revenue

DeKALB - Sunshine and JOAN JETT's performance Sunday were the saving grace for Corn Fest, which suffered from bad weather and low attendance Saturday.
Good weather and JOAN JETT's performance improved Sunday's attendance, Emanuelson said.
She performed at the Soundstage in front of an audience of thousands, helping create the best Sunday crowd the festival has ever seen, Emanuelson said.
The board paid to bring Jett to the festival because "our goal was to keep the event going," he said. Previously, the last day of Corn Fest had the lowest attendance.
Attendance was helped by the variety of activities available, from a car show to races to carnival rides.
The festival also had more booths with greater diversity this year, with the number of booths increasing to 140 from last year's 101, Emanuelson said.
"The volunteers did a great job," he said. "And because of them, we had a nice weekend." |
