Why aren't you on the Ramones Tribute album?
I was wondering if you would tell me who played drums for "The Barbusters" in "Light of Day"?
#1 Did you see the Margaret Cho movie w/ your music in it?
#2 Why aren't you on the Ramones Tribute album?
THANKS MUCHO
MARY
Dear Mary,
I did not actually see my music in Margaret Cho's movie, but I have seen her perform and I think she's terrific.
As far as The Ramones tribute album is concerned, it was put together by Johnny Ramone and Rob Zombie. I would have liked to participate, but these guys (through their manager) first said they wanted no girls, but then there were girls in it.
They actually disappointed a lot of people with their choices, and even Joey's family was freaked out by the inclusion of bands that Joey Ramone hated.
Someday, we may do a Ramones tribute album with Joey's family that will not include corporate rock bands that would have made Joey sick to his stomach.

Ms. Jett,
I really like your music and the movies you've been in. I was wondering if you would tell me who played drums for your band, "The Barbusters" in "Light of Day"? Was it the actor or was it someone else? I enjoyed your performance very much. Thank you for your time and keep on rockin.
Michael
Dear Michael,
Of course, the drummer on the Barbuster's recordings was THOMMY PRICE, who has played on all my records since 1984. He also played on all Billy Idol's hits and on Pattie Smyth's records.

Ms. Jett,
My name is Brianna. I just turned 9 year old. My Mom and Dad took me and my little sister to see you in Council Bluffs, Iowa last year. The band before you wasn't really that good. They just screamed a lot. We were up front and when you sang "I hate myself...", I was waving my fist like my Mom and Dad. I know all the words to all your songs. You saw me singing and started laughing at me. Then everyone rubbed my head. I thought I was being dumb, because you laughed but my Mom and Dad said you laughed because you thought I was cute. Im sorry I recked that song Ms. Jett. My Dad collects guitar picks. But this time I got one. The guitar player thru it right to me. It is green. I really wanted yours because yours is blue and that's my flavorite color. I tride to give it to my dad, but he put it in my scrap book. And Because it would be from you. My Dad said you will be in Lincoln, Nebraska in August. It's on a Monday and my Dad said I can skip school to go. But, I can't tell my teacher! My question is, can I shake your hand in august in Lincoln, Nebraska on a Monday?
Thank you very much.
Brianna
Dear Brianna,
Thanks so much for your sweet letter! Let me tell you first, that your parents we're correct. I was not laughing at you at all! I thought it was awsome that you were singing along, and it makes me very happy that you were so into it. I think its cool cause remember, Brianna, when I was your age, there was no such thing as a girl playing electric guitar, so I think its great that you have wider variety of people in life to inspire you with your dreams.
I would love to shake your hand in Lincoln! and give you my guitar pick! Do me a favor and drop me a note here to remind me a couple of weeks before, ok? Thanks Again ! Keep Rockin'!

Dear Joan,
About 13 years ago my younger brother and I saw you at Six Flags in Atlanta. I was supposed to take my little sister, who was 6 at the time and LOVED you, but we found out at the last minute that it was senior night at Six Flags so they wouldn't let me bring her. Needless to say she was incredibly disappointed. The real pisser is that when my brother and I were at the concert, we saw people there with young children, so she could have gone after all.
I wrote to you about this and the next thing I knew I received a letter from you in the mail with an autographed t-shirt for my sister. Your letter said to call Laurie Lazarous (forgive me if spelling is wrong). I did so, got to speak with Kenny as well, and you gave us free concert tickets and back stage passes to your next concert at the Omni in Atlanta with Aerosmith.
The concert itself rocked! It was really great watching my little sister so excited, jumping up and down and singing along with you. When we went back stage you held her in your lap and talked with her for a while. One thing that stood out to me is that you didn't rush. You took your time in visiting with us and really paid attention to her.
As we left I handed you a letter. About a week later I received a response from you written on the hotel stationary where you stayed. I actually still have that letter.
It meant a lot to me that you went out of your way like that for a fan. It would have been a lot easier for you, and the road a lot of other performers would have chosen, to just send my sister a t-shirt and leave it at that. But you didn't do that. You went out of your way to let both of us know that as fans and as fellow human beings, we mattered to you. For that, I offer a million thank you's! It is something my sister and I have not forgotten and have carried with us over the past 13 years!
When I was 13 my father died. My mother was physically abusive, and to top it all off, I was a lesbian raised in small town America. I later realized that I am actually transgendered, and have since begun the long road to transitioning into a male body. My life, as you can imagine, was quite hellish. It was very difficult to have role models or even feel a reason for them. But thankfully I did have one...you.
Your music was a constant source of strength for me. Music has always been my soul, and yours provided me with the "edge" I needed to release my pent up anger and to learn to stand up for myself. It gave me the attitude needed to make it through those difficult years and to deal with the difficult moments of today. For that I thank you as well!
Today I am 31, happily married to an incredible woman for 8 years, have a ten-year-old daughter, and one year of college left to go before I graduate. I have finally stood up for myself and made the decision to transition. Unfortunately it has cost me most of my family, but the strength I now have has allowed me to be able to successfully deal with that. I owe a lot of that success to you and your music. Without it, who knows where I would be.
I don't really have a question, I just wanted to say thank you! I believe you have such a loyal fan following because you yourself are loyal to your fans. Despite your hectic schedule, you are never too busy to take a moment to show your fans that you truly do care.
For all of this, I offer my absolute best to you and your life! May all of the good you have done for others come back to bless every moment of your life!
Take Care,
Ryan
Dear Ryan,
Thank you for your letter. It made me cry. Not because it is a sad story, but one of strength. One that also reminded me exactly why I do this, because it goes beyond a love of music. It is about connection. Connecting with your little sister and you years ago, spending time to hang with a kid. It is rewarding and rich. And having that kind of impact to give strength to others is humbling.
We feed each other as human beings. Your letter demonstrates that. You have just fed me. Thanks again, and ROCK ON!!!
