JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS playing two shows in Yuma, Arizona? We knew we couldn't miss these shows, and we also figured that they would sell out quickly, which they did! We arrived in Yuma on Friday evening so we could check the Paradise out. We went to the front desk to pick up our tickets, and found out that the shows were going to be held in the bingo hall. It was your typical small type bingo hall, complete with long tables and chairs, a small stage for the person who called the numbers, and a bar in the back. We were unable to imagine just how there was going to be a Jett show in there the following night.

We arrived around mid afternoon, and weren't surprised to find several Jettheads already there, obviously very excited but trying to maintain their composure by playing (or should I say losing money on) the slot machines. We started lining up outside the bingo hall around 5:00 p.m. The doors opened for the first show around 6:30 p.m., and the Atlantis Club looked a whole lot different from the bingo hall we'd seen the night before. There were rows and rows of chairs in front of the stage and the stage was set up with the sound and the band's equipment.

The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again" came on precisely at 7:00 p.m. The crowd went wild! Once the band came out on stage, it took about four or five minutes before the front of the stage was flooded with Jettheads. The set list was the same one we'd been reading about lately; however, it was exciting to hear some of our favorites that we hadn't heard for a while live. Joan looked fantastic, better than we'd seen her in years, and she and the BLACKHEARTS really rocked the house! Everyone was singing and clapping along! The first set was about 50 minutes long.

After the casino crew managed to get everyone out of there, we had to wait in line again for the second show. They finally opened the doors around 8:40 p.m. Joan and the boys came out a little after 9:00 p.m. and the minute they hit the stage, a bunch of us flew up to the front. They proceeded to rock the house AGAIN! We stood directly in front of Joan (well, a bit to her left), got our share of those beautiful JOAN JETT smiles and looks/stares, and even managed to snag a set list after the show was over. Speaking of set lists, this is the one from the 9:00 p.m. show - Science, Cherry, Light, Touch, Wild Child, Eye to Eye, Road Runner, Luv is Pain, French Song, Fetish, I Luv R&R, Crimson, Hate, encore: Bad Rep.

JOAN JETT, THOMMY PRICE, DOUGIE NEEDLES, Sami Yaffa, and KENNY LAGUNA did not disappoint! We can't wait for the next show!
