USO Tour Veteran JOAN JETT to Visit Service Members at Tinker Air Force Base

WASHINGTON, June 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Rock n' Roll singer JOAN JETT will visit troops stationed at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City, Okla., June 6. During the visit, she will dine with the troops, sign autographs and tour the base. This is the sixth in the USO's newly revised stateside tour program and Jett's seventh USO tour. In 2002, Jett entertained troops on a USO tour to Afghanistan.
JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS have been performing for America's service men and women since 1982. In 1976, she began her career with the first all- girl hard rock band, The RUNAWAYS. Jett later became the first female artist to own a major record label, BLACKHEART RECORDS. She has been labeled as one of the most influential rock 'n' roll women of all time.
In 1982, Jett and the BLACKHEARTS created one of the biggest hits, "I Love Rock 'n' Roll," plus eleven smash singles including "Crimson and Clover" and "Everyday People." The band reunited in 1999 to record the album "Fetish." In 2001, the group released "Unfinished Business," which features a collection of sports-related songs.
