INDEPENDENT FEMALE MUSICIANS COME TOGETHER TO CREATE "IT'S ABOUT EVE (Music For The Cure)," ALBUM IN SUPPORT OF BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

100 PERCENT OF NET PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT CHARITY-TJ MARTELL FOUNDATION AND THE LIBBY ROSS FOUNDATION ARE RECIPIENTS

JOAN JETT CONTRIBUTES SPECIAL RENDITION OF THE BEATLES' "THE WORD"

New York, NY- "There is no immediate cure, all women are at risk, and early detection is vital to survival. This project honors all women who have lost the fight to breast cancer and all those who have survived it." Hernando Courtright, executive producer, IT'S ABOUT EVE (Music For The Cure).

The independent spirit is very powerful. It motivates and it heals. And, in the music industry, the independent spirit is having a growing impact on how we do business. So it's no surprise that some of the best in female indie artists have banded together to draw attention for young women to the deadly disease of breast cancer.

IT'S ABOUT EVE (Music For The Cure), the compassionate, outspoken and charming collection of songs from such indie faves as Deena Miller, Lava Baby, Ina May Wool and Julia Greenberg, also boasts an impressive collection of rising indie stars. And, indie rocker/actress JOAN JETT, the first female rock recording artist to own her own record label - BLACKHEART RECORDS - leant an edgy turn to the Beatles song "The Word" as a bonus track on the album. Jett recorded "The Word" with the IT'S ABOUT EVE band, Leni Stern, Camille Gainer, Sara Lee and Valerie Ghent. IT'S ABOUT EVE (Music For The Cure) will be released June 13th on Fore Reel Entertainment; www.itsabouteve.org.

Commented JOAN JETT, "As an owner of my own record label, I'm certainly someone who appreciates and admires independent minded women. While we heed the call to support the WTC victims and our military overseas, we can't forget women's health concerns. Hernando Courtright was a wonderful friend of mine when I was in the RUNAWAYS, and I totally enjoyed being part of a project that is his passion, after all these years."

"This project was inspired by the death from breast cancer of a young family member," commented Hernando Courtright, executive producer and co-owner of Fore Reel Entertainment, on the project. "In looking for a way to do something personally, I realized that music is what I know and what better way to promote a better understanding of this disease to young women. The thirteen songs on this album were chosen to both reflect the strongest material from these artists and to serve as an introduction to those who might be interested in their music. "

Producer/mixer Rob Stevens (Yoko Ono, John Lennon, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Toshi Reagon) added, "It was an honor and an incredible kick to work with JOAN JETT and some of tomorrow's most influential artists, and combined with the chance to contribute to a cause that continues to affect far too many people, this was a opportunity that could not be passed up."

The artists on IT'S ABOUT EVE have stood out amongst their peers, garnering rave reviews from the media. Billboard's Larry Flick describes Lava Baby as " edgy while the bandmates weave the kind of brain-embedding hooks that top 40 hits are made of, their words are decidedly smarter and far more clever than most of what you're likely to hear on the radio, " while The New York Times said about Julia Greenberg, "Her roots pop style is similar to Sheryl Crow, but with a more accessible and witty edge. When she plays with a band, it's all out rock. Like Shelby Lynne's, her music has a slight country flavor and a lot of attitude."

IT'S ABOUT EVE will donate 100% of net proceeds from the sale of the CD to . the TJ Martell Foundation and the Libby Ross Foundation, charities that benefit research and outreach programs for breast cancer.
