Heat Can't Keep Fans Away

August 12, 2001 -- DESPITE scorching heat and humid air "so thick you could cut it with a knife," 10,000 screaming fans turned out last week at Rye Playland to cheer on performers JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS.

The fans stomped their feet, clapped their hands and chanted lyrics to her classics like "Bad Reputation," "I Hate Myself For Loving You" and the rock world's national anthem "I Love Rock and Roll."
