Jett's Camp: "We Had a Deal"
from: broadway.com
When Broadway.com reported last week that JOAN JETT, a Rocky Horror Show original cast member, would not participate on the cast album, a spokesperson said: "They [Jett and producers] could not come to terms." However, Jett’s representatives seem to feel that the statement is an oversimplification of the facts. "Terms were made and terms were changed," Jett representative KENNY LAGUNA told Broadway.com.
Last week producer Jordan Roth told us that negotiations with Jett had been going on for a while, but that the parties "couldn’t make a deal." However Laguna tells a slightly different story: "Before we went back for the first callback [during the audition process], we tried to get this straight. And they said, ‘Sure,’ and everything was fine--and then it changed." According to Jett’s representatives, the Rocky recording was originally supposed to be done by Q Records, a division of QVC which previously produced cast records of Footloose and The Music Man "We had a deal," Laguna said, "and then at the end they changed to RCA."
