JOAN JETT rocks Lake Elsinore's Diamond Stadium
from: swrnn.com

low resolution image Not Enlargeable JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS still know how to make electrifying rock -- even on a ballpark field in the middle of the day.

Over 7,000 fans packed Diamond Stadium, home of the Lake Elsinore Storm, Sunday afternoon for a couple of America's pastimes -- baseball and rock 'n' roll. Many remained after the Storm's 2:05 p.m. game against the Lancaster JetHawks to watch Jett and her band perform on a stage set up behind second base.

Those who bought a game ticket could see the concert for free.

The over hour-long performance was held in celebration of Storm owner Gary Jacob's birthday.

Jett delivered a broad spectrum of numbers with solid spot-on vocals, cranking out her hits like "Cherry Bomb," "Bad Reputation," and "I Love Rock 'N' Roll" as well as growling out "Fake Friends," "The French Song" and "You Drive Me Wild."

Jett will perform in the area again on June 19 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.

Rock Legends: JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS
from: cdllife.com

JOAN JETT is unique in the rock world. She formed one of the first successful all-girl rock bands The RUNAWAYS. She was one of the first true female music video stars that broke into the mainstream during MTV's early years. She looked good, she rocked hard and she never apologized.

In fact, she still looks good, well into her 50s. She's lean, she's mean and she can still bang a guitar with the best of the boys. She can still turn heads and hearts with her signature sound of pop, punk and garage rock riffs that began way back in 1975, yet still kicks today in 2012. That's nearly 40 years of rocking and she's giving no signs of quitting.

JOAN JETT's big breakthrough hit was the song "I Love Rock n' Roll," which was actually a cover by an unknown band from the 70s called The Arrows. Joan turned it into a honest-to-goodness hit on AOR radio and MTV. The program directors at the video music channel loved her for her songwriting skills, her snarl and her cross-over good looks that represented the best of punk, rock and biker culture. She was such a smash, MTV gave her a New Year's Eve concert special that garnered a huge view share for the then-small video music channel, even for a network special.

These days, Joan still plays live with her updated version of The BLACKHEARTS in front of big crowds during big events. Our video is a recent appearance she made at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, Florida this last week. It's a fan video, so the audio quality is lower than studio-grade, but it still gives you an idea of the power and punch of her formidable rock quartet. The song is called "Victim of Circumstance."

Enjoy, truckers!

JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS - Long Beach Grand Prix-Long Beach, CA 4/14/12

low resolution image Not Enlargeable I always believed that if you looked up the definition of rock n' roll in the dictionary there would be a picture of JOAN JETT. No one embodies the spirit of rock more than Jett. I've seen her perform several times over the past 25 years and she just seems to get better with age. This year she was playing as part of the Long Beach Grand Prix's Saturday festivities.

JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS at the Long Beach Grand Prix The outdoor venue was packed to capacity with several thousand fans. She took the stage with the BLACKHEARTS and ripped right into "Bad Reputation" and "Cherry Bomb" which sent the crowd into a frenzy. Jett's vocals and guitar playing were superb. After 30 plus years in the biz she is a seasoned pro. Her 20 song, 2 hour set covered all the phases of her career. She went as far back as "You Drive Me Wild" which is the first song she ever wrote while a member of the seminal all girl group, The RUNAWAYS.

She dedicated the song "Victim of Circumstance" to all the cops that that used to hang around outside the Licorice Pizza Record Store, (for all of us old enough to remember that place). She played several of her biggest hits including "Do You Wanna Touch," "Light of Day," "Crimson and Clover" and "I Hate Myself for Loving You." The highlight of the show was without a doubt "I Love Rock n' Roll," her huge hit from 1982 that spent over a month at number 1 on the Billboard charts . The crowd went absolutely nuts and everyone was singing along at the top of their lungs, while many played along on air guitar. After 30 years it was easy to see that the song still strikes a chord with multiple generations of fans. The band finished the show with a three song encore which included "Little Liar," "AC/DC" and a cover of Sly & the Family Stones' "Everyday People."

Watch Entire Foo Fighters Set From Lollapalooza Brazil
from: loudwire.com

Foo Fighters have become one of the best bands to rock an arena over their nearly 20-year career. Now you can experience almost three hours of their powerful live performance from the band's April 7 headlining set at the Brazilian edition of Lollapalooza.

Dave Grohl and his cohorts took to the stage Saturday night for the Brazilian edition of Lollapalooza. The Jockey Club, in Sao Paolo, Brazil saw nearly 70,000 fans during the two-day event which also featured performances from Arctic Monkeys, Cage the Elephant and Jane's Addiction.

Foo Fighters' hit-packed set lasted nearly 3-hours -- something that has become fairly routine at the band's concerts. The Brazilian crowd was treated to a barrage of arena-sized rock anthems including 'Times Like These,' 'My Hero,' 'Best of You,' and a cover of 'I Love Rock and Roll' with fellow Lollapalooza performer JOAN JETT -- you can see the entire adrenaline-fueled performance below.

Lollapalooza has just announced the lineup for it's Chicago edition this August, which features headliners Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Keys, and Black Sabbath (in their only U.S. performance this year).

(Ed Note: Joan appears at 2:21:00 during the video performing "Bad Reputation" and "I Love Rock 'N' Roll with the Foo Fighters)

Singer JOAN JETT, 53, appeared on the first day of the Lollapalooza Festival Brazil 2012 in Sao Paulo.

Ever since the opening, with two of her biggest (and best) successes - "Bad Reputation" and "Cherry Bomb" - Jett gave the noise she had promised, with its simple and straightforward rock, sometimes fast, sometimes slow, and a repertoire of songs with over 30 years, which did not prevent the young audience to do the chorus and get excited. Watch excerpt from the show.

JOAN JETT: "What matters is to be genuine"
The queen of rock and roll anticipates his visit to Argentina and not victimize pure memory: a woman is just a detail

from: rollingstone.com.ar

low resolution image Not Enlargeable The rejection of 23 labels may be reason enough for any artist decides to give up, and turn to feng shui, to attend a supermarket or open a parripollo. But JOAN JETT, who at the forefront of the RUNAWAYS and had a few years in the environment curtiŽndose macho rock, decided to go ahead and start his own label (BLACKHEART RECORDS, which continues today), and thus become one of the faces and most recognizable female voices in rock. And while it had already achieved notoriety with his group charge of riot girrrl was the hit "I Love Rock and Roll" which led to worldwide fame and sold several million records. Today, with 53 years very well kept, Jett returns to enjoy a tour-as he did in his time with Aerosmith, The Police and Queen, and will be the special guest Foo Fighters at the two international dates Quilmes Rock, 3 and 4 April in River. But before all that, Jett meets routine interviews, Short and to the foot.

When and how did you meet Foo Fighters? I guess you knew Pat Smear for being the producer of the first album by The Germs, but spent much time with one thing and another ...
Of course, I know Pat since I was a teenager, when I produced for The Germs, and I guess the connection this way comes. But over the years, going back and forth on the road, being in the same environment, I tried to find ways to reach those musicians he admired in some way, and among them was Pat. Thus we reach a point where we agree in several concerts and thought it would be good to do something together, and that took shape when I was invited to Foo Fighters Madison Square Garden to play with them, "Bad Reputation". It was so cornered a few days later we repeat the David Letterman show. One day Dave (Grohl) told me "Do you want to go with us to South America?" And I shouted "I love to go to South America", ha.

After many years of career is your first visit to Argentina, what expectations do you have?
I do not know what to expect! I overheard that the public is very Argentine rock, say, exuberant, very demonstrative, so I hope to spend some fun days and is all good. As for the country, I really do not expect or what I find, because I'll be there in professional music-plan-or tourist, perhaps, trying to meet as many people as possible, but we are only two or three days.

"Rock & roll is a lifestyle"
from: clarin.com

JOAN JETT fulfilled the dream of the kid rock: use your sexual identity paradigm, its principles of liberty as a flag, your group as a means, her label as a resource, their struggle against social injustice as a guideline. The rock as a verb. Today is a lady rocker 53 which serves us by phone from somewhere in the U.S. States.

You started your career, your adolescence and finally mediating ther tour brings you to South America. What keeps you on the road? The rock! I enjoy playing my music, songwriting, touring, the life of rock & roll itself. Ther coming to Argentina finally, that although I have high expectations, I do not know what to expect. I know your audience, know it is very demonstrative, I have said and that increases the excitement for me. We will offer a show without much paraphernalia giant group: will our issues, from the time of The RUNAWAYS, my solo hits and everything we've done with The BLACKHEARTS, of course. Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters and accept invited us happy.

You're considered one of the best guitarists in the world by the magazine "Rolling Stone".

I am proud and am honored to be part of that, though these things are a bit arbitrary. Yes I would like to consider in the near future more women, of course. That is, there are great guitarists and musicians in general.

JOAN JETT Lollapalooza is gained at the point of charisma and rock anthems
The singer and vocalist who played with her band The BLACKHEARTS reviewed his solo career with The RUNAWAYS.

from: latercera.com

low resolution image Not Enlargeable Not even five minutes had passed since the beginning of September of JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS and the former RUNAWAYS-core group of women in rock hertory, had already dispatched two of her biggest hits: Bad Reputation and Cherry Bomb.

And with these issues a very careful voice, rebellion to the surface and a bullet proof charisma, ther woman-can not believe her attitude and look-rondea the half century of life Jett had earned her audience.

As people arrived scenario Sure, LG did not hesitate to sing along Do you wanna touch me? You drive me wild or-another issue of The RUNAWAYS that, he told was one of the first songs I wrote when the rocker asked.

Then was the turn of two new songs for the rock diva used the support of a lectern with the letters: TMI, and Hard to grow up. Behind them, Jett Naked dealed, her latest album, SINNER.

Always communicative, after telling you Fake Friends was on the type of friends who do not want to do, was another new song The reality mentality and then released without further ado her famous cover of I love rock n 'roll, making it clear that her voice again is intact.

After saying "Thank you" in Castilian, the band followed with another cover, Crimson and Clover,-he even had a choir in Castilian-to make way for her big hit I hate myself for loving you: one of the most chanted, danced and applauded. After a brief departure from the scene, Jett introduced her band and ended the set with ACDC, another theme of her album SINNER to say goodbye to an audience more than satisfied.
