Why aren't you on the Ramones Tribute album?
I was wondering if you would tell me who played drums for "The Barbusters" in "Light of Day"?

Rocker JOAN JETT gives Tinker star treatment
from: Tinker AFB

True to her trademark song, musician JOAN JETT loves rock and roll. And she admits to having a soft spot for America's military, too.

Jett spent hours June 6 showing Tinker Air Force Base personnel her commitment to the troops runs far deeper than a 20-minute photo op and spans decades and generations.

Tech. Sgt. Richard Klinski, a power production technician with the 31st Combat Communications Squadron, was just 13 when he attended his first concert in Seattle, Wash.

JOAN JETT: still loves rock and roll
from: Fly Magazine

JOAN JETT loves rock and roll. That much hasn't changed since she first elbowed her way onto the national scene in 1981. What has changed is the notion that rock and roll is a male institution, thanks in large part to Jett's rock-at-all-costs attitude and tough-girl image.

I caught up with Jett and her partner in crime, BLACKHEART RECORDS co-owner KENNY LAGUNA, in May as they drove to Philadelphia to collect the Lifetime Achievement accolade at the Philly Music Awards. But Jett wasn't feeling very reminiscent about her career, and didn't want to talk about the award. She was fired up.

Despite the various awards she's collected, the millions of albums sold, and the fact that she's become nothing short of a rock icon, Jett remains militant in her mission to level the rock and roll playing field. "I personally want to re-establish and remind people that girls play rock and roll and that I'm still here," Jett says during the Fly interview.

JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS, at the Atlantis Club, in Yuma, Arizona, on Saturday, June 7, 2003
from: Denise Sowers and Billie Lance

JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS playing two shows in Yuma, Arizona? We knew we couldn't miss these shows, and we also figured that they would sell out quickly, which they did! We arrived in Yuma on Friday evening so we could check the Paradise out. We went to the front desk to pick up our tickets, and found out that the shows were going to be held in the bingo hall. It was your typical small type bingo hall, complete with long tables and chairs, a small stage for the person who called the numbers, and a bar in the back. We were unable to imagine just how there was going to be a Jett show in there the following night.

We arrived around mid afternoon, and weren't surprised to find several Jettheads already there, obviously very excited but trying to maintain their composure by playing (or should I say losing money on) the slot machines. We started lining up outside the bingo hall around 5:00 p.m. The doors opened for the first show around 6:30 p.m., and the Atlantis Club looked a whole lot different from the bingo hall we'd seen the night before. There were rows and rows of chairs in front of the stage and the stage was set up with the sound and the band's equipment.

The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again" came on precisely at 7:00 p.m. The crowd went wild! Once the band came out on stage, it took about four or five minutes before the front of the stage was flooded with Jettheads. The set list was the same one we'd been reading about lately; however, it was exciting to hear some of our favorites that we hadn't heard for a while live. Joan looked fantastic, better than we'd seen her in years, and she and the BLACKHEARTS really rocked the house! Everyone was singing and clapping along! The first set was about 50 minutes long.

JOAN JETT lives up to her good reputation for hard-hitting rock shows
from: Tulsa World

JOAN JETT looked and sounded like she could mess you up real good Thursday night at the Brady Theater.

In not-so-subtle fashion, the leather-clad bottle-blonde with an attitude declared that she's the kind of gal who doesn't give a spit about what people think. She likes singing about two of her favorite things -- sex and rock 'n' roll -- and if you don't like it, well, get lost.

When Jett opened her mouth and sang tunes culled from her more than 20-year career, she sounded like she'd spent a lifetime carousing in shady back rooms drinking stupid galoots under the table, smoking Marlboro Reds and picking fights just for the heck of it.

Rock Mama
from: Tulsa World

JOAN JETT fought the macha fight, and she still loves rock 'n' roll JOAN JETT knows how domestic violence can bloody a beautiful woman's face and break a family right in two. It sickens the feisty hard rock singer, so much so that on Thursday night at the Brady Theater, Jett will lend her voice to Tulsa's Domestic Violence Intervention Services' Seeds of Hope Concert.

The benefit concert, also featuring pianist Jim Brickman and local diva Mary Cogan, will help raise money for DVIS, a non-profit agency that provides comprehensive intervention and prevention services to men, women and children affected by domestic violence.

"I wanted to get involved with DVIS because domestic violence affects so many people -- including myself in the sense that I know many people who have been affected by it," Jett said in a brief telephone interview. "It doesn't matter whether you're rich, poor, middle class, black or white -- domestic violence is all-encompassing. It's everywhere."

Rock and roll legend JOAN JETT highlights bike rally with fairgrounds concert
from: Unita County Hearld

"Shoo-ooop! Shoo-ooop!"

Clad in head-to-toe leather, a rock and roll icon walks the length of her trailer, wailing this sound from the pit of her stomach just moments before she's scheduled to appear on stage at the Uinta County Fairgrounds. The platinum blonde star starts her vocal warmups just after her longtime producer and friend, KENNY LAGUNA, advises her that it's almost time to go on. Taking her cue, she removes her performing gear from a surprisingly small black suitcase and goes to the bathroom to change.

She went into her changing room a mild-mannered, easygoing woman wearing heavy eye makeup and loose clothing, but she emerges as the performer audiences have come to know as a living legend within the rock and roll/punk genre: Ms. JOAN JETT.

Yes, JOAN JETT still loves rock and roll.

But don't take our word for it. Find out June 7 when the gal called the first lady of rock and roll comes to shake things down at Paradise Casino.

Still wondering how much this show is going to rock? In the mean time, take an original Blackheart's word for it.
