More about the open letter to Rolling Stone
from: KENNY LAGUNA

Hi everyone,

We are sorry for the confusion, but JOAN JETT did NOT write the open letter to Rolling Stone, rather it was written by Maya Price, a talented performer and writer in New York City, and it was forwarded to us.

I loved the content, but we had nothing to do with writing it.

Thanks for the strong response to it.

Kind regards and happy thanksgiving,
KENNY LAGUNA

An Open Letter to Rolling Stone
from: Maya Price

This letter was written to rolling stone after their "women in "rock" issue was published, but was not printed by their editors. Please forward it to all the rocking people you know!!!!!

I tried to find some cleverly worded way to express my disgust with your "Women in Rock" issue, but what i have to say is really quite simple: You guys are completely retarded.

By RS standards, Rock is no longer a style of music but a trendy costume to be whipped up by expensive stylists and slapped onto the latest pop tart barbie doll. Give a girl some tight pants and a spiky bracelet and POOF! She ROCKS!

JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS prove "Good Music" never goes out of style!
from: centralcoastteens.com

JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS stormed the California Mid State Fair on Aug.2nd and proved that the more things change... well, the more they stay the same. "Good Music" or in this case, kick ass Rock n Roll at it's purest and nastiest just never goes out of style. Jett, the original Riot grrrl, has become an icon in the music world, influencing scores of artists (Britney Spears included a cover of Jetts "I Love Rock n Roll" on her latest CD) and has endured during various trends (remember Grunge?) in the music industry and has truly stood the test of time.

Before the show we got together with Joans long time musical partner, collaborater, and keyboard player, KENNY LAGUNA whose partnership with Joan dates back to 1979. Laguna started his musical career at the ripe age of 13 and has remained constant in Joans career and personal life. After talking to Kenny and the other band members we were introduced to Joan who was very pleasant and accomadating to all. Kenny and Elliot (Joans Tour Manager) made sure we had great seats, (on the side of the stage no less!!)

Hitting the stage for the first of two standing room only shows, one cant help but notice how great Joan looks, and how tight the BLACKHEARTS are as a band (Doug (Needles) Cangialosi-Guitar, Dave Z-Bass, THOMMY PRICE-Drums, KENNY LAGUNA-Keyboards). Highlights included " Do You Wanna Touch Me" (oh yea), I Love Rock n Roll","Bad Reputation" "Good Music"and a stunning rendition of "Love Is All Around"(The Mary Tyler Moore Theme Song).
