"It's About Eve" CD is reviewed in this weeks Billboard and is a Spotlight Pick!

The Heart of rock ‘n’ roll storms stage
from: North Platte Telegraph

The crowd came to hear classic rock from legendary rock groups Heart and JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS in concert Sunday night at the Wild West Arena.

That’s exactly what they got.

The concert, the first in a series of three, was part of the Nebraskaland Days celebration. The crowd began to gather early, enduring the sweltering summer heat to get a good view of the veteran rockers.

Leading ladies of LV put full support behind charity event
from: lvrj.com

Every good news story needs a hook, and the leading ladies of Las Vegas hope to have 10,000 of them for their "Bras Across the Strip" charity event.

Organizers aiming to raise awareness of breast cancer plan to string 10,000 bras from Mandalay Bay to the Stratosphere on July 29.

"It's going to be quite a feat," said Sunny, the host and lead of the Rio's "Showgirls."

I Love Rock 'N Roll
from: markislam.com

I confess: I can hardly wait to hear Britney Spears' cover of JOAN JETT's breakthrough song, "I Love Rock and Roll," an inspired, not entirely obvious, choice likely to garner attention & introduce this signature anthem to an entirely new audience -- that is to say, the generation just being born as Jett & her BLACKHEARTS were topping the charts with it. I can just hear the former Mousketeer kittenishly winning over the 17-year old boy she spies dancing there by the record machine, confidently boasting, "I could tell it wouldn't be long 'til he was with me, yeah, me." [A pivotal question here is: Will Spears' fans, who probably download all of their music from the Internet, even know what a "record machine" is? I recall my friend's niece, roughly Spears' age, who had never seen a turntable before. She took one look at mine and asked me if it was some kind of space-age hotplate.]None of this is to endorse nor dis Spears. Neither fan nor detractor, I admire her for being a pop culture phenomenon but admittedly haven't kept up with her every move. I thought "Hit Me Baby One More Time" was terrific, as are her playful Pepsi commercials (which, while utterly watchable, haven't done their job of winning me over from the rival company's Tab), thus making me willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, although I can also see how it has the potential to be cringe-worthy.

I do hope JOAN JETT reaps a windfall of renewed exposure from the Spears cover. I don't know why, but it surprises many when I mention that Jett is one of my favorite artists. She has put out many highly enjoyable albums, including one of the most overlooked albums of the 90's, "Notorious." Her chops having been honed by her commitment not just to loving rock and roll but PLAYING it as well, Jett is one of the best live performers I've ever seen. And this IS an endorsement. Onstage, bobbing up & down in front of her mic with her electric guitar glued to her like a prize possession strap-on, Jett, defiantly undeterred by gender, is unafraid to work up a sweat & demands that her audience does as well. She is an embodiment of girl power. Not the manufactured, talked-about kind, but the real thing: A sister doing it for herself through grit and dedication.

So, the question is, when can we expect VH-1 to produce a "Behind The Music" special on her?

JOAN JETT gets fans rocking with high-powered show

White guitar wailing, JOAN JETT leaped onto the stage declaring, "I don't give a damn about my bad reputation/I've never been afraid of any deviation."

Her Thursday night performance at the San Joaquin Fair proved the passage of time hasn't adversely affected her hard-rocking image or personal convictions.

To the satisfaction of an estimated 2,500 in the mostly 30- to 40-something, denim and T-shirt audience in attendance, the 41-year-old Jett and her band, the BLACKHEARTS, turned in a passionate 80-minute show that included hits, cover tunes, new songs and an encore by popular demand.

MADDEN HAVING PRE-JAIL BALL
from: NYPost.com

June 9, 2002 -- Bad boy shoe designer Steve Madden has been partying like it's 1999.

After all, Madden starts serving a 3 1/2-year jail term for stock scams next month, so he's got to celebrate his freedom while he's got it.

Tonight, Madden will be getting down with JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS at the China Club in Midtown Manhattan. Jett will perform some of her hit songs, including "I Love Rock and Roll." No word yet on whether Steve Madden shoes will adorn her feet. (Celebs who have worn his designs include Janet Jackson, Gwen Stefani, Matthew Perry, Ashton Kutcher and the members of boy band *NSYNC.
