Flashback to 1989....
from: MTV.com

One woman who had no use for fufu videos was JOAN JETT, whose uncompromising music made her a heroine on the hard rock circuit. Back in March of 1989, the down and dirty rocker went a little upscale when she and her band, the BLACKHEARTS, brought their tour to a Broadway theater for a few nights. On that occasion, Jett weighed in on the state of rock and roll in the late '80s. "So much of it's in the attitude, and today I just hear so many people, so many bands calling themselves rock and roll bands and realistically, they aren't," she said. "That's the thing that seems to be missing to me, is the real gut spontaneous rock and roll feeling." Amen.

NEW YORK--When Cherie Currie joined JOAN JETT onstage to sing "Cherry Bomb" in Anaheim, CA on August 18, 2001, it marked the first time the musicians had performed the song that Jett wrote for Currie together in over two decades.

On May 15, to coincide with the induction of The RUNAWAYS into Hollywood's Rock Walk of Fame, BLACKHEART RECORDS will release a limited edition EP of the Jett/Currie "Cherry Bomb," recorded live at the surprise reunion. The disc will also include Currie's "Don't Believe In Heaven," and a previously unreleased live studio version of Jett's "Long Time."

It has been 25 years since Jett and Currie made history as members of The RUNAWAYS, the all-girl rock band whose brief, loud career led the way for rocking women ever after, from the GoGos to Lunachicks, L7, Hole, Bikini Kill, Sleater-Kinney and the Donnas.
