KIDNEY BALL!
from: bisnow.com

low resolution image Not Enlargeable We went to the Masquerade Kidney Ball on Saturday at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. That means we got to dance to JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS.

This year marked the 34th anniversary of the ball, one of the largest events of the National Kidney Foundation nationwide, attracting over 800 guests and raising over $800,000.

Donors, medical leaders, patients and their families enjoyed a cocktail reception, dinner, auctions and more. We snapped Mixology's Kim Rosenberg, Rock Creek Strategic Marketing's Stephanie Lemaitre and Kindred Kidneys' Rachel Schreibman.

Over 26 million Americans--one in nine adults--have kidney disease, and most don't know it. In the DC area alone 700,000 people are affected, 7,000 are on dialysis, and 1,700 are waiting for a life-saving transplant. Here, Kidney Ball Chair and ICF International COO John Wasson,1 National Kidney Foundation of DC board member ABC 7's Jummy Olabanji and Happy Madison's Judit Maull.

NASA's Leonard Newman and his wife Sherri with Attain prez Manish Agarwal and National Kidney Foundation National Capital Area prez Pamela Gatz.

District of Cinema's Afrika Kathuria, Clear Channel's James Howard and Corporate Traveler's Marcie Howard.

Deputy Chief of Mission at the UAE Embassy-DC, His Excellency Omar Al Shamsi, here with ESPN 980's Scott Jackson, accepted an award on behalf of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, for their work with the UAE Healthy Kidney Run. Also being honored at the Kidney Ball are The Washington Wizards (Community Service Award), patient advocate Johnnie Cannady, and MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute's Rachel Schreibman, Stephanie Lemaitre, and Dr. Matthew Cooper (winners of the Mission Appeal award).
