If fans were seeking a 1980s flashback, they got what they came for.

Jett's bad girl image has worn well through the years. Now 50, Jett still looks fit and ready in sweaty vinyl and trademark leather.

Diane Drake and Anya Hartpence of Brookings were typical of the strong feminine fan base at the Palace on Friday.

"In the '80s, she's the one I'd listen to and she's still swinging," Drake said.

The concert was a combination girls' night out and high school reunion for Kim Krueger, Cara Osier, Michelle Styer and Lori DePauw of Huron.

"We saw JOAN JETT 21 years ago at the State Fair as high schoolers in Huron, and a group of us came back for the show, so this is pretty special for us," Krueger said.

Jett ran a career sampler for adoring fans, making sure to add numbers like "Cherry Bomb" from her early days with The RUNAWAYS, and she drove the audience to a frenzy with the 1982 classic, "I Love Rock ÔN' Roll."

Jett also pulled the audience into a sexy rendition of "Do You Want to Touch Me" Ñ with the "Oh Yeahs" supplied by the crowd Ñ she added "Change the World" and "Androgynous" from more recent albums.

Corn Palace manager Mark Schilling said Jett drew an audience of about 1,350. "It was a good show and a lot of fun," Schilling said. "Everyone got treated to a great entertainer."

The music continues today at 7 p.m. with Corn Palace headliner David Cook, winner of last year's "American Idol" competition. The Toby Kane Band, followed by the band Crash Kings, will open for Cook. Tickets are still available.

The festival wraps Sunday at 6:30 p.m. with country legend RonnieÊMilsap. The 4:30 pm.Êstate Colgate Country Showdown precedes Milsap's show.
