Blues, rock and rap roll into casinos

PETOSKEY -- Entertainment legends, including B.B. King, LL Cool J, George Carlin, JOAN JETT and Kenny Rogers, will bring their own special brand of New Year's magic to Michigan casino stages in coming weeks.
Odawa Casino
The Fabulous Thunderbirds kick off the January lineup at the Petoskey casino on Jan. 12. Since their start in Austin, Texas, The T-Birds have been bringing their distinctive, powerful sound to blues and rock fans around the world. Tickets are $15-25.
Beloved by punks, indie rockers, pop fans, metal heads and classic rockers alike, JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS take the stage on Jan. 25. Tickets are $25-35. A continuing, challenging musical presence, Joan and the BLACKHEARTS have just returned from a UK tour with Aerosmith.

Soaring Eagle Casino
The Associated PressHip-hop artist LL Cool J will perform Jan. 25 in the Soaring Eagle Casino in Mount Pleasant.
There once was a time when industry insiders doubted whether a hip-hop artist could have staying power. With almost two decades of hits and his 10th album ready to drop, LL Cool J has proven naysayers wrong. The two-time Grammy Award winner comes to Mount Pleasant on Jan. 25. Tickets are $42-$62.
The following week, on Feb. 1, blues legend B.B. King hits town with Larry McCray. At 76, King continues to play the blues with a relentless passion. Tickets are $30 to $65.
Former members of the Electric Light Orchestra, now reconfigured as The Orchestra, will take the stage on Feb. 8. Tickets are $19-35.
