Orcasound Features Review
Champlain Vally Fair
Essex Junction, Vermont, Sept. 1, 2007

low resolution image Not Enlargeable Over the years I have always enjoyed travelling down south on Interstate-89 from Montreal to my favorite event in Essex Junction, Vermont. This year is no different, The Champlain Valley Fair has been providing folks from all around with exactly what they are looking for; there is something that will appeal to anyone.

Several new amusement rides have been added along with what everyone might expect to find at such a grandiose County Event. The Fair boasts animal rides for the little ones, a petting zoo, contests galore and a unique charm that can only be found in Vermont.

My favorite attractions were present as always, of course that includes the wide array of music. This weekend's musical menu includes: JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS with Blue Oyster Cult and Foghat on Saturday and Willie Nelson on Sunday.

Foghat opened the three part musical night with JOAN JETT and her BLACKHEARTS headlining, Blue Oyster Cult was sandwiched in between. Of course this was a throw back to the seventies, when guitar "gods" reigned and Playstation was a TV program.

Foghat's four man band opened with a lively 45 minute set. The original incarnation of the band is no longer together, yet the present members of the band assembled from such bands as Savoy Brown, Average White Band and Molly Hatchet were superb.

Blue Oyster Cult rocked and could of easily been the main act of the evening. Playing hits that included the quintessential "Don't Fear The Reaper" and "Godzilla" really got the audience pumped for more Blue Oyster Cult and certainly JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS.

JOAN JETT hasn't lost her relevance in this modern computer aged society. Her songs about rock 'n' roll, ambiguity and love are still pulsing through our veins. Jett still puts on a lively, high energy show, don't miss her next time she visits your town.

All in all the evening went off without a hitch and I can't wait to check out tonight's Willie Nelson concert.
