Kenny Rogers, Little Feat, JOAN JETT head Sunset fest lineup

Pop superstar Kenny Rogers, soul-blues singer Joan Osborne and Dixie-rock mainstays Little Feat will be among the headliners for the 10th annual Snapple Sunset Music Festival, to be held at the Newport Yachting Center from June 28 through July 7.

Little Feat will open the festival on Thursday, June 28, with Rhode Islander James Montgomery and his band opening the show on the main stage and Rhode Island’s Mark Cutler on the Festival Stage. Rock veteran JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS come in on Friday, June 29, and Jack’s Mannequin, the side project of Something Corporate frontman Andrew McMahon, continues the festival on Saturday, June 30, with locals Heather Rose and the Drama opening and Laura Wood on the Festival Stage.

On Sunday, July 1, Osborne and Brandi Carlile will co-headline the main stage, with Josie Crosby on the Festival Stage. The politically active rock and reggae of State Radio will continue the festival on Monday, July 2, with Rhode Island’s Monty Are I opening and Kim Lamothe on the Festival Stage.

Kenny Rogers sings on July 3, with Linda Davis opening, while moe. plays the festival on Thursday, July 5. Bluesman Robert Cray continues the festival on Friday, July 6, with the retro soul sensation James Hunter opening and Rhode Island’s Marjorie Thompson on the Festival Stage.

The festival concludes with British Invasion stars Peter Noone and Herman’s Hermits on Saturday, July 7, with Sonny Geraci opening.

Tickets for festival concerts range from $65 (Rogers) to $15, in advance, and go on sale Monday. They can be had at the Newport Yachting Center box office by calling (401) 846-1600, ext. 2, at www.newportfestivals.com and at all f.y.e. locations. Preferred seating tickets are available at Flint Audio Video, in Middletown. A portion of the proceeds from the festival will benefit the Autism Project of Rhode Island.
