Jett lets loose at Chevrolet Court
from: syracuse.com

The first sign that this wasn't going to be the usual Chevrolet Court concert by a band that was popular in the 1980s came when JOAN JETT took the stage dressed in a black leather bra and pants.

Then Jett and the BLACKHEARTS gave all the musical clue anybody needed with song No. 1: "Bad Reputation." "I don't give a damn about my damn reputation," she sang.

Neither did a good portion of the packed crowd, who rocked as Jett sang 1980s hits like "Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah)." The punk music followers loved her. The hard rock lovers dug her. The alternative rock fans got into it.

Jett and the BLACKHEARTS still can play it rough and tough.

As she proved with the songs from this summer's new album, "SINNER," Jett's still trying to "Change the World." That's one of the cuts, and it crackles.

"Androgynous," "AC/DC," "Fetish" and "100 Feet Away" from the new disc hammered home the point. Jett's still a rebel and loving it.

And with "Riddles" from the new disc, she wanted all to understand that she's miffed: "It's about how our government doesn't speak to us, it speaks around us, confusingly," she said.

The fans seemed to relate. After all, here's a proud woman who can then turn around and turn in a hard rock version of of the theme from "The Mary Tyler Moore Show."

But they really loved the closing one-two-three punch of "I Love Rock 'N Roll," "Climson in Clover" and "I Hate Myself for Loving You." Hits with wallop, they've weathered well.
