Brewery announces June concert lineup

STEVENS POINT -- After four years of staging Rock the Brewery concerts, the Stevens Point Brewery has learned a few things about entertaining.
Organizers have assembled a lineup of national music acts, made arrangements to feed everyone in attendance and will have 200 half-barrels of beer on hand.
"We also will have three times as many bathrooms then we did the first year," said Art Oksuita, the director of operations for the brewery. "We learned our lesson that year."
The brewery announced that Loverboy, JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS and Kansas will perform June 10 at Brewery Park, across the street from the Water Street brewery. The event starts at 4 p.m. with the show beginning at 5:30 p.m. Organizers are expecting about 6,000 people to attend.
"The event is becoming a tradition for people from all over," said Julie Birrenkott, the marketing manager for the Point Brewery. "People have parties at their house during the day, or get there early and camp out and then go downtown after the show."
Putting on the event requires the help of about 150 volunteers. Nonprofit groups including the Stevens Point Jaycees, the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Athletics Department, Central Wisconsin Children's Museum, the Boy and Girl Scouts of America and the Evergreen Masons will raise money by selling concessions.
Tickets are on sale for $25 at the brewery gift shop or on its Web site, and in the coming weeks, tickets will be on sale at different locations throughout central Wisconsin.
The brewery is running a promotion and placing free tickets to the show in cases of beer for sale in stores.
