Concerts for a good cause

Time is running out to catch a Loudoun Summer Music Fest concert on the Belmont Country Club lawn in Ashburn.
The remaining bands are JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS Aug. 14, KC & The Sunshine Band Aug. 21, and Eddie Money Aug. 28.
The concerts are a great way to spend a relaxing summer evening, but it's also important to remember that proceeds benefit a good cause.
Three of our local charities benefit from this year's Summer Music Fest: The Good Shepherd Alliance Inc., The Loudoun Community Free Clinic and Special Love.
The Good Shepherd Alliance in Leesburg develops and implements programs and services designed to help homeless people in Northern Virginia become self-sufficient. With new programs like the drop-in center, street outreach and workforce development, Good Shepherd is working to bring the community together to serve those suffering from homelessness and poverty.
The Loudoun Community Free Clinic, based in Leesburg, is a private, nonprofit health-care provider that serves the medically uninsured in Loudoun County. Patients receive free, quality health-care services for acute and chronic health problems.
Special Love in Winchester helps children with cancer and their families overcome the emotional and financial consequences of living with a life-threatening disease. The organization offers year-round camps and programs, and also provides a support network of people who understand what it's like to battle childhood cancer.
