Jett to zoom into Aberdeen
from: aberdeennews.com

JOAN JETT, known as "the original bad girl of rock 'n' roll," will taxi into Aberdeen for a concert on Friday, Aug. 20. She'll joined by her group, the BLACKHEARTS, at the Brown County Fair concert.

Jett is best-known for the 1982 hit, "I Love Rock 'N Roll." Her other hits include "I Hate Myself For Loving You," "Crimson and Clover" and "Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah)." She also starred in the 1987 movie "Light of Day," with Michael J. Fox.

The scheduling of Jett's concert completes the Brown County Fair lineup for 2004. Chris Cagle will perform Thursday, Aug. 19, and Diamond Rio will take the stage Saturday, Aug. 21.

A Philadelphia native, Jett began her career as the leader of the Los Angeles girl band, The RUNAWAYS.

Jett released "I Love Rock 'N Roll" on her own independent label after 23 labels refused to pick it up. The song held the No. 1 spot for seven weeks, and wound up being the No. 28 song of all time.

She has also starred on Broadway in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Many films have featured the group's music on their soundtracks, from "10 Things I Hate About You" to "Shrek."

The Brown County Fair, which runs from Aug. 17-22, will also feature two nights of rodeo and two demolition derbies.
