NORTH TONAWANDA, NY- JOAN JETT returned to the Buffalo area for a free concert for a couple thousand of her faithful fans. This was the final concert of the Canal Summer Series at Gateway Park in North Tonawanda, which features free concerts from national acts all summer long. Jett, looking fit as ever, opened the show with "Victim of Circumstance." The capacity crowd surged forward to get a closer look.

Jett’s performance was rather amazing. She had tons of energy and sounded as good as ever. Her back up band, the BLACKHEARTS, were equally impressive. Jett’s set list was loaded with many hits including the classic track "Cherry Bomb," that she had while a member of the late 70’s band RUNAWAYS. She played the prerequisite top 10 hits from her 1982 album ‘I Love Rock n’ Roll,’ the title track and the Tommy James cover "Crimson and Clover." Jett also included from her vast catalog "I Hate Myself for Loving You," "Bad Reputation," "Light of Day," "Do You Wanna Touch" and "Fetish" For the encore she mentioned her involvement in the ‘Rocky Horror’ on Broadway and played a number from it. Jett ended the night with "Everyday People." An added surprise was an intense performance of a new song from a movie that she’s staring in called "Sweet Life." This could be a big comeback hit for Jett, if radio gets behind it. Congratulations to the organizers of the Canal Concert Series, they had another excellent summer. Let’s just hope they can do it again next summer.
