JOAN JETT is a Visionary
from: Randex Communications

JOAN JETT is a rock star, a label owner, a movie star and a rebel. Add visionary to that list. In a bold move, Jett recently made three of her most popular albums, Bad Reputation, I Love Rock & Roll and her greatest hits, Fit To Be Tied, available as downloads for purchase on her official web site.

Jett herself stated it clearly enough when she first informed us that she doesn't, in fact, give a damn 'bout her bad reputation. "I've never been afraid of any deviation," she sang then. And she's still not. In conjunction with "SuperFrank" Copsidas', owner/innovator of the e-distribution company Cool Ears, the original Riot Grrrl is now selling all three records, complete with artwork, via the comfort of your own computer.

Fit To Be Tied, Bad Reputation and I Love Rock & Roll, the multi-platinum album whose title track was #1 for eight weeks, are available at the incredible price of $10 each. Jett's entire catalog will be available for download soon, including new material like the X Games theme and The BLACKHEARTS' punk version of "Science Fiction" from her appearances in the Broadway hit "Rocky Horror Show."

"We don't look at the Internet as an alternative to traditional distribution, but rather an enhancement," says Jett's producer, and friend KENNY LAGUNA. "For people who don't like to steal, there is no longer any excuse for downloading unauthorized music."

In the meantime, Jett is wrapping up recording of her next CD, due shortly. And, in her first film role since her acclaimed stint opposite Michael J. Fox in "Light of Day," Jett can be seen this spring playing Sherry, the Biker Roommate, in "The Sweet Life," a romantic comedy "for people who hate romantic comedies." JOAN JETT has never been one to live in the past. It's a new generation!! Youngsters are just discovering old favorites like "I Love Rock & Roll" in Charlie's Angels and "Bad Reputation" in Shrek and as the theme to the cult TV hit, "Freaks and Geeks." But veteran fans with worn copies and new listeners looking for their first buy might have a tough time finding these songs or their namesake albums at their local record store.

"I think that Joan was so far ahead of the times," says Laguna. "Her impact and her lyrical messages are totally in sync with what kids are doing today. Her whole perspective and attitude is the model for many of today's artists and not just the women."

JOAN JETT is, of course, a founding member of the influential balls-out, all-girl rock band, The RUNAWAYS. She's also the first female artist to own her own record label. BLACKHEART RECORDS, which Joan established in 1980, has released such artists as the Chemical Brothers, Big Daddy Kane, DJ S&S, Metal Church and Professor Griff. Joan, always an artist as well as an entrepreneur, remains as busy as ever as she is currently on the road.
