Alliance of Neighbors' Benefit Concert Featuring Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi to Air Live, Exclusively on CN8, The Comcast Network
from: prnewswire.com

PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- CN8, The Comcast Network, will air a live telecast of the "Alliance of Neighbors," benefit concert featuring Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi, Friday, October 19th (8 p.m. - midnight) to raise funds for the Alliance of Neighbors of Monmouth County, Inc. Funds raised from the sold-out concert will be used to help aid the families from Monmouth County affected by the September 11th terrorist attacks. Additional funds will be raised both on-line through allianceofneighbors.org and by calling a toll-free number during the CN8 telecast.

CN8's broadcast will feature the second of two scheduled concerts this week at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, New Jersey, which holds approximately 1,400 people. The first performance is scheduled for Thursday, October 18, but will not be televised. Event organizers and the participating musicians decided to air the second concert on CN8 to be sure to reach as many Monmouth County residents as possible. In addition to the two evening shows, event organizers have opened up Thursday's sound check to the families of the more than 160 Monmouth County victims.

"These concerts are just the first step in our efforts to help rebuild this community," said Red Bank Mayor Edward McKenna. "It's not about the music as much as it's about helping our friends, families and neighbors. Bruce, Garry Tallent and Jon are among the thousands of Monmouth County residents who are pulling together to provide comfort, support and resources to those in the area who have been directly affected by this tragedy."

In addition to Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi, the concerts will include performances by The Pilgrim Baptist Church Celestial Choir of Red Bank, followed by Phoebe Snow, Aztec Two-Step, Garry Tallent, Max Weinberg, Randy Moore, Joe Ely, JOAN JETT, Asbury Park-based Highway 9 (formerly Sam Hill) and featuring Sun Artists and Elvis Presley band members DJ Fontana, Sonny Burgess and Jerry Sheff.

"For CN8, airing this concert is about helping to raise funds for a community in need," said Jonathan Gorchow, vice president and general manager, CN8, The Comcast Network. "We've all been touched by the events of September 11th and bringing this concert to the region is our small way to help event organizers in their mission to raise funds. We're honored to do our part."

Prior to the terrorist attacks, the concerts were scheduled to benefit World Hunger Year, a NY-based organization started by Harry Chapin and Bill Ayres, that raises funds to combat hunger and poverty throughout the country. However, event organizers, who have very close ties to Monmouth County and its residents, decided to pool their efforts to benefit their local community.

In addition to the concerts, the town of Red Bank will hold a street fair on Saturday, October 20th, featuring a groundbreaking ceremorom the Alliance of Neighbors concerts and the CN8 telecast will be donated to the Alliance of Neighbors of Monmouth County, Inc.
